Hi!

Please keep in mind that I am bit new at this and in no way a guru....yet ;) I have been using Plesk to run my dedicated servers and have been very happy, but I keep reading about people saying they love Cpanel. Besides the easy to use client interface, how does it compare to Plesk? How is it for setting up reseller accounts on the server?

Thanks Guys!!!

I don't have much experience with the plesk control panel, but from what I have heard, cpanel simply has way more features. It also has a nicer looking interface (although not everyone agrees with this statement).

Reseller accounts are one of cpanel's strong points at this time. You have a couple of different options when setting up resellers. You can have them resell your accounts, or you can sell them X mb disk space and X gb transfer, and they can divide it up however they want. Resellers get their own control panel and can add accounts in real time (which makes them feel important :D )

Cpanel is a good product, and is constantly improving. You will be happy with it if you decide to get it.

It makes good coffee late at night... :D

Seriously though, most of the people who laud cpanel (myself included), find the feature list very impressive. From an end users point of view they get to do *lot* of things with their accounts without having to rely on support to do it for them.

Resellers get a lot of control as well (depending on the hosts setup).

From the admin end of things it's a bit of a running battle at times with poorly tested new features, but Nick seems on the case quickly these days so things tend to get corrected quickly. He's been very open to feature requests these past few months too, and the whole package is coming together quite nicely at the moment

I tinkered with the Plesk demo quite a while back, and wasn't overly impressed with the end user account features. My only other previous experience with panels is the Alabanza panel, which while quite solid, and fairly feature rich, was pretty rigid.

Just the best overall combination. Very user friendly for the end user. Icons are most popular. Lots of features. Basically, you can do everything you need from WHM and CPanel.

Very good reseller solution. Allows flexibility and control. Reseller basically has the capabilities of the server owner up to limits set by the owner.

The biggest negative is the ongoing cost per month, but that is not as big an issue for users who have large quantities of panels.

Although it is known for bugginess, my experience has shown fewer problems than with any other panel except for Alabanza.

Ya Ya But I hate the 99a month charge for the software. That just bugs me. Plus CPANEL just doesnt look as professionally built as ENSIM or PLESK. Yucky Interface.

depending on your source provider, some throw in CPanel with the cost of the server. Might be worth looking into when you go shopping for hardware to lease.

Anyone happen to know a good hosting provider that sells a Cpanel for around 200-250 a month with 300-400 gigs bandwidth....I would pay a premium over what I pay for my whitebox's at rackshack, but I dont really want to pay a ton more. Hard to beat 99 a month:P

cpanel has got many features and many automatic scripts...some of the main things are

- creating subdomains
- additional ftp accounts
- forums
- cgi scripts like many

checkout www.cpanel.net for more info.....I'm sure you wont be getting these features with any cps...but there is a new cp hostgui is comming by this end of april... that might be become competitor for this cpanel.... lets see...then !!!

But for time being you can go for cpanel...

CPanel has ALOT of features, especially for Resellers.

The negative about Cpanel is that it is also very BUGGY.
If you want a stable control panel, PLESK is the way to go.
