Hi guys,
The latest announcement from Google on its 7th anniversary is that it is tripling the number of web pages that its system can search . Response to Yahoo's claim that it has indexed around 19.2 billion pages.

Agreed, but quantity does help when searching for obscure topics.

It's not important on how many total pages they index. It's only important on how many pages of MY site(s) that they index ;)

I think just indexing the billion pages is not enough for considering it a big search engine, it should be judged by who actually offer more comprehensive with close relevancy to your search, exploring it in much broader way.

What does it matter anyway? I rarely ever click past the 2nd page as I'm sure most of us rarely do the same, as the results become very weak past that.

and i think generally with search engines

quantity = quality

and google returns decent results ie. not some irrelevant cr4p
