I attempted to sign up for a domain name today with namecheap.com. I began the process by confirming the availibility of the name i wanted. Then I moved to the registration page and then on to the order page. Once all the info was inputed I click the process payment button and after a few moments I received and error Message.

I then recieve and email stating that there was a timed out session problem.

Now when I go back to re-attempt registration my choice of domain name is not avail. Is this a common problem?
I have sent their tech support an email requesting help but have not heard back yet. Just wanted to know if this is a big problem for me or something minor that will work it self out?

Also I have done a whois for the chosen domain name and it show still availible?

Thanks in advance,
traumaway

I think only namecheap can answer your question.

However, if you'll use a decent whois (in this particular case you can try whois.enom.com as NC are their resellers), you might have different resluts about the domain's availability.

Good luck!

And BTW, welcome to WHT!

I just whoised at whois.enom.com and it list me as the owner and describes the name a locked. This is all very confusing, anyway thanks very much for your rapid reply. Finding out that I am the listed owner makes me feal a little better. Can't wait to hear from namecheap.com

Thanks again,

Was your credit card charged? Do you see this domain in your NC account?

my bank is not quick enought o show the charge yet so I will have to wait on that one.

I guess I was being a little jumpy b/c of my lack of understanding and trust of the unknown computer world.

I guess everything is allset and I have a few self produced grey hairs show for it. LOL

Thanks,

This exact same thing happened to me today when I tried to register a domain name with NameCheap.com I received the "operation timed out ... operation failed" message. But, all of my info was showing when I did a search for the domain name thru whois.enom.com. However, the domain name in question was NOT showing in my NameCheap account. After several emails to them, they manually added it to my account so it appears that it has been taken care of.

This is the first problem I have ever encountered when using NameCheap. Since the problem was corrected in a timely fashion, I will still give them an A+ rating! :)
