I'm moving from virtual host to dedicated server. In the transition, I want to have the nameservers running on the new server for a couple of weeks before moving the actual web site. The registrar is GoDaddy. Is this safe, or might it cause problems.

On the new server, I won't create a MYSITE.COM account until it's time to switch the web site. But I want to create accounts for other domain names on the new server before that.

Are you asking if it will cause problems to setup nameservers on a domain name that is hosted on another hosting company? If so, no that won't cause a problem. Creating ns1/2.example.tld will not effect the hosting of the domain example.tld.
