Guys, what does "distribution" mean in HELM control panel? I read its manual, no answer. I read HELM's support forum, but there is no answer, just many questions. So... what is it?! Is it really needed to manage servers?

You can't have looked too hard ;)

I think it's important - if you've got 3 webservers then imagine not having load balancing, and trying to deal with 600 domains. You could end up with 400 on one, 170 on another and 30 on another. Not ideal.

Perhaps you want to distribute certain types of websites to certain servers. Perhaps you want to keep all FTP accounts on the same server as the web site. There are hundreds of reasons why distribution is useful.

Thank you for your answer. But

Perhaps you want to keep all FTP accounts on the same server as the web site.

All FTP accounts must be on the same server as the appropriate (related) binded web sites. It is a nonsense if a web site and its FTP account are on different servers. And a good control panel, of course, should place them on 1 server without additional sophisticated settings like "biased distribution" or so.

Am I right?

Otherwise it is just a conundrum for the panel user...

Nope we run a central FTP server for multiple web servers. Allows you to better control FTP usage.

The use of resource distribution allows the most flexibility. So you can have everything set-up on one server if you want or you can have it on individual servers.

You could configure it so MySL/FTP/Web/Mail are all on the same server on seperate servers or on a combination of servers.
