View Full Version : Domain Transfer charges

I am the registered owner of a domain name which I wish to transfer to another registrar. My existing registrar wants to charge me silly amounts of money to allow the Tag change.

Surely this isn't right?, with the majority of other registrars allowing domains to be transfered out for free what makes them so bloody special.

And before anybody starts puffing out their chest and saying the old die hard 'Well you get what you pay for' like some demented old parrot. Save it. This registrar is one of the most expensive around and offers very little in features or control panel, hence why i'm moving in the first place

I've been charged for a transfer away ONCE and that was for a .co.uk name, since you're required to get a "Tag change" instead of the more traditional method of transferring away. I assumed that was the case for every .co.uk name, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

If those "silly amounts of money" amount to more than £15 plus VAT you just bypass your registrar by filling in a tag change form with Nominet (the registry).

(I assume we are talking .uk as you are using the word "tag")
