But I'm trying to make a blogging site and I'm a bit new to this kind of site making ;P So far, I'm just working on the layout (template) but one thing hit my mind x_x How does one make those kind of 'comment' things? My friend told me that apparently all those sites are using... 'blog programs' Is this true? and if it is.. how does one get one and can someone give me some names of these 'blogging programs' if they do exist? Because apparently I won't be able to get those comment thingies unless I get one or code my own says my friend x_x and I don't know anything else besides basic html :\ (and I wasn't sure if this is design related so sorry if it is in the wrong section x_x)

You're friend is right. The simple rout for blogging would be to get one at www.blogger.com Very easy to set up and customise. Probably great for you since you only know basic html.

You're in the right place. While not strictly necessary, blog software does make life easier. Next time you're reading someone's blog, scroll to the bottom and see if it says what software runs the site. Popular options include Movable Type and WordPress, but there are literally dozens of options:

You can also sign up for blog-specific hosting from sites like blogger.com or livejournal.com. I recommend WordPress.

Blogger.com is only an interface, blogspot.com is the actual hosting service.

I recommend normal shared hosting, and wordpress.

^^ my bad. I've used blogger for something on my own server so I just figured it was the same.

Wordpress is nice and all but judging by his experience, it'll probably be better to just use an "automatic" kind of thing rather than setting up a db.

Take a look at mypinboard.com. This site requires no skill whatsoever, which is great because I don't have any. You can also animate pages and text which is something you don't get on an ordinary blog, and makes your pages a bit more interesting.

I'm a bit confused. I've actually used something like myspace and xanga once, and those are like run on their own domain right? like their domain name then a / and then your account name x_x I meant that I got my own domain and that I want to blog on it myself ;P and have those blog features on it. Sorry, I'm just a bit confused as to what you guys are exactly recommending ;P Is the things you guys showed me something like a thing I add to my own domain and then it just has the features of a blog such as xanga or myspace?

EDIT: Nvm guys ;P I get it , you meant that I can get direct blog hosting from them by paying money right? and it would already have the blog features in it ;P But I do like the link that shows the Blog Software Breakdown, it was real helpful! Thanks again :D
