How many 1u servers fit in a cabinet?
![]() | View Full Version : Quick question re: cabinet space rbro 04-11-2002, 08:35 PM How many 1u servers fit in a cabinet? Chicken 04-11-2002, 08:53 PM If there's such thing as a 'standard' or 'common' rack, then 42 (typically), however I'd imagine there are different size racks. Edit: Maybe a cabinet isn't the same as a rack. Also, that is just 1U space, not necessarily how many 1U servers you'd load in there. Switch, power, etc. take up room. Sorry, better answered by someone else... jayglate 04-11-2002, 08:57 PM 4 ISO Bars say 10 Power Strips each and lets say you put two switches in theirs that is 6U gone right there. So you are saying around 35 servers in a 42U rack. Give or take something. RackMy.com 04-11-2002, 09:00 PM We get about 39-40 servers per rack most of the time. anantatman 04-11-2002, 09:27 PM you can put about 330 RLX blade servers in a cabinet raq4less 04-12-2002, 03:36 PM Originally posted by anantatman you can put about 330 RLX blade servers in a cabinet  RLX Blade servers  Can you share a link or URL with us? Thats scary small, but also scary expensive at the same time :(, go figure  anantatman 04-12-2002, 06:38 PM but if you're gonna go buy 24 computers... at 1k a pop its' not THAT bad. sepcially if you're saving the colo costs of 21U if you can fit it in to 3U. The power requirements are much better too. emoore 04-12-2002, 07:16 PM You can fit 280 of these Compaq Blade servers in a raq http://www.compaq.com/products/servers/proliant-bl/e-class/index.html For normal 1U servers I would say 35 is a good average. porcupine 04-12-2002, 07:53 PM Originally posted by anantatman but if you're gonna go buy 24 computers... at 1k a pop its' not THAT bad. sepcially if you're saving the colo costs of 21U if you can fit it in to 3U.
