Hi,

I need Avatar to be displayed under my name. Don't you think its a cool idea to have avatars ???

Of course those who don't want to see avatars can simply disable it in their control panel.

What you guys think !!!!

:)

Alot of people like the idea, However it would mean more bandwidth usage for iNet ;) and some would argue it makes the forums look a little messy.

You don't really need one.

I prefer wht withou them.

This topic has been discussed many times, i suggest you use the search utility.

I prefer WHT without them too, so I have voted no. Forums that do allow them look messy at times.

Regards,

Exactly!

I my self like these avators but WHT
looks more neat and professional
without Avators.

Isn’t it possible to enable avators for
Lounge Section only?? Other professional
sections will remain professional and
we can showoff our avators here at the
Lounge. :cartman:

How about avatars kept at minimum sizes width by length?

Voted No. Other forums have them, but they're not necessary here at WHT.

They're not "neccessary" on any forum, but they do add some personality and life into a forum. :)

There was a recent poll (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=434894), and I thought the consensus was that because they're off by default, then there would be no issues if they were enabled.

I voted in support of Avatars, probably for the first time. It is about time WHT has reinvented itself. I think that by allowing a small avatar to members with some kind of seniority - it will add some creativity to this forum.

If you do a search you'll see that the only time you'd see them is after the VB upgrade which has been on the plate for a LLLOOONNNG time ;)

I'm on a 6MB down/1MB up cable connection and I still have periods where WHT doesn't connect to the database (actual error I get on the screen is it is having a database issue and it is a vb error) or it hangs for a second, etc...

Why in the world would we want to enable avatars and just make this worse?

Larry,

It's not going to make a difference whether avatars load when the db is down. Other than during those occurances: WHT loads very well.

I vote FOR avatars!
Although I'd like to see them limited to users with a high post count or 'high number of years' at WHT, I'd rather not see a bunch of crude objects in users with 1 or 2 posts' avatars.

I think this is from the Ad server. May be wrong though.

Also I think It would be ok if it was default turned off - and you had to have 500 or so posts before you could have one of your own. :D

Avatars are a must, its what completes a web forum. I believe they should be enabled on WHT!

HMMMMMMM................................ And have more outages like the last few days with WHT down for hours?

somehow I don't think a link to an offsite image is enough to cripple wht. Avatars would be nice but I think the nail was hit when you should only be allowed to have one if you have over 550 posts.

sorry for the mild topic rehash but I just found it :)

So to rehash a 1 year old thread...
I want avatars!

:hammer:

I think the idea of having them disabled (hidden) by default is flawless.
Step up! When's it going to be implemented. ;)
