Hello,
I have a problem.
I have a romanian .com site(content in romanian). This site is hosted in America(american IP, american DNS servers).
Romanians searching in google have the following options:

-search sites in www I apear in the results
-search sites in romanian language I apear in the results
-search sites in romania I dont't apear in the results

Most romanians search romanian sites by choosing->search sites in romania and I get left out.
What can I do so I will apear in the results for search sites in romania. ??
I thought this is because I don't have a romanian Ip address but I noticed that a romanian free host provider is anouncing that they are moving their server's to romania from america. The free site hosted on xhost.ro apear in the results for search sites in romania althought they were hosted in America until now.
How did they pull it of?
Please help!

We have a few Romanian members who may soon view your content to see how you can better optimise it for search engine rankings :)

Thank you for you're response but I think this could be pretty common for international users.

The big question is how can you apear into an etnic section of google.(I mean what does it takes? IP? Domain?(I have a .com not .ro) Because I see language is not all)

Hello mombutu,

While I really have no idea what the true solution is, after I gave it a bit of thought:

1. You should make sure you let the spiders know that the site is written in romanian.

This discussion seems to detail what info you have to add to your pages (if you didn't already): http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum21/9752.htm

2. I tried a search for "sites in romania" that have .net and .com domains, by using the queries "inurl:net" and "inurl:com" without the quotes.

I did some traceroutes on about 10 domains that are in the top 30 and they all pointed to romanian ISPs. Actually some of them were not using the romanian language, which might suggest that language is not a criteria when using "sites in Romania".

After searching a bit in the results pages, I did find a few sites in other languages that (here comes the surprise) did not point to romanian ISPs.

In my eyes, it would appear that .com or not, Google does determine whether the site is hosted Romania or not, based (at least partially) on who owns the IP where the domain points to; it also appears that their system does make mistakes from time to time, as some of the sites had nothing to do with Romania at all.

I hope this helps a bit.
