View Full Version : RaqBaq?!?
Starhost 01-05-2001, 10:33 AM Hi I read on the cobalt user-list that their was a program for the raq called RaqBaq. With that program you coul deasily add wildcards, subdomains and other nice features.
The makers of the software stopped disrtibuting it, because of the mass mail they got. Now I'm wondering is their anybody with this software on his harddrive so that i could use is it :):).
OR do you know other good software, so that you can easily add new sites, wildcards etc. (not webmin and not telnet (lol))
Thanx.
Chicken 01-05-2001, 01:07 PM Did you post this to the mailing list? I think many people would be interested in this if you get your little hands on it.

sebados 01-05-2001, 03:38 PM cobaltraqs.net is out of service but you should email them (support@elitehosts.com, I think).
batboy 01-05-2001, 03:48 PM What do you mean, out of service?
Cobaltraqs.net is working OK, you can download RaqBaq from http://www.cobaltraqs.net/downloads.html .

anyone actually try this out yet?
sebados 01-05-2001, 03:59 PM I cant access their site. Sorry, maybe is my ISP.
-Edward- 01-05-2001, 04:52 PM i was gonnas that too teck ....
i went ahead and installed it. very simple. the problem was that i couldnt use it. my server right now has no domain pointing to it and i'm just using the ip. when setting up raqbaq, it did find what domain the server should be but on that domain, i haven't changed the ns over to tera-bytes. that basically killed apache. i proceeded to uninstall it and everything was back to normal. it looks very promising. i 'll try to install it again once i change my dns records.
Domenico 01-05-2001, 05:18 PM What does this software do exactly?
eva2000 01-05-2001, 05:58 PM looks cool.. but if i use tera-byte.com's dns control panel and not the raq3's will the raqbaq work ?
c0bra 01-06-2001, 04:56 AM "I recommend to EVERYONE, DO NOT INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE
This company failed to even test this software on various configurations of raqs. I was thankfull enough to help this company install it on my machine."

The development and support of the software was scrapped in October. I haven't heard or read anything since so as far as I'm aware the software available on their site is still the same untested code that caused RAQ owners problems back then.
that message was sent on the 24th. on the 26th, the developer released a new version.
Starhost 01-06-2001, 11:46 AM I also installed it and my raqs works fine, though I eddited the addon a bit, so that the info is saved to the dns, now that doesn't happen.
If you want I'll post the modification tonight.
brandonk 01-11-2001, 12:41 AM I installed RaQBaQ and it worked, but the problem is, when it sets up the DNS it does it all with CNAMEs, which is frowned on. I guess CNAMEs cause a lot of problems.
Thanks,
Brandon
