Assume I use VBB with PHP and MySQL.

i think it'll depend on the number of users you expect to have, and the number of threads/posts you expect...

hehe, I'm expecting 10K threads and 100K posts with 500 actice members plus 3000 sub-marine member.

So your visitors will post about 110K daily then?
Threads and posts are taking pretty much the same space, so to cut off the confusion, we just refer it as posts, shall we? :)
You might need about: 60MB space
