Hi.
Before reading the forums at webhostingtalk and sitepoint, I was going to sign up to a shared account on Interland. But now I think I better not to do. I found HostPro.com a few days ago. I searched webhostingtalk and sitepoinforums and didn't see any complaints about them. Do you have any suggestions or thoughts about HostPro?
Thanks.

I know HostPro will return several postings from the past, but I didnt read them so not sure if they are positive or negative. Hopefully you will get some feedback.
You could also try at
http://www.hostsearch.com
They might possibly have some customer reviews.
Good Luck!

I have a little experience with HostPro. They were always had fast e-mail response time and I never had to wait on the hook too long for live help. You could do better and probably save youself some money with someone else though!

I've had some experience with HostPro. I originally had a virtual hosting account with them. I got an e-mail from their sales department advertising Cobalt dedicated servers at a reduced price for existing customers--and it was a "limited time offer, so hurry!" It sounded like a good deal so I signed up; then, the very day after the "limited time offer" ended, they changed the prices on their website to the same price they had advertised in their e-mail! At worst that's false advertising (isn't that one of the definitions of false advertising--advertising something on sale when it actually isn't?); at least, I consider it unethical. No response from their sales department when I e-mailed them with my complaint.
The tech support was what I would call "above par for the hosting industry"--which isn't saying a whole lot. I got prompt responses to my e-mail questions, but I never got clear, "here's how to do it" answers. It was always a one-or-two sentence reply, which I never really found helpful (I wound up solving most of my problems through the Cobalt e-mail list).
Anyway, although the server performed well, thanks to their sales department I was left with a bad taste in my mouth for HostPro and eventually moved over to another company.

Used them in 97' and 98' and had no complaints with HostPro's service at that time.
Have you looked at http://www.olm.net

I've been using HostPro for 3 years now. They have a good product and good support for basic things. They do play the typical sales games so watch out.
I have a VServer Pro account ($95) with "No-cost" hits. No Cost my A$$. They limit your processes when you get to 30,000 hits a day which renders your web site impotent even during the slow periods. Nowhere on the signup page does it list that number, and saying you have "no-cost" hits is highly misleading and boderline fraud. (My opinion)
Somewhere in the fine print is says they can shut you off if you overload them. It's my opinion that they should tell you that there's a 30K hit limit if that is their policy.
I think they use 80K as their threshold for the Ultra account.
Other than the sales scam...good company. And Yes, I'm shopping for another host. pair.com looks good so far
Oh, one other thing, they say they have fully redundant routers, backbone, etc. That's hogwash. Around the beginning of the winter the service was going up and down every few days, if it was redundant that wouldn't have happened. Emails to the top people were blown off with the typical sales line..."we're sorry"

Welcome to the educated elite who now know that "unlimited" means "there are limits, we just put them in the fine print instead of the advertising."
A while back I had one of those VServers Pro accounts as well. I like the features and the VServers tech support was good, but yes, it was slow--agonizingly so for CGI programs. You can get a dedicated server for not-much-more money, which--if you get it from a reputable company--you will be *much* happier with.

Two years ago, I ordered a vServer Pro, only to cancel 5 days later, without having even moved my site in. The problem? Like IntelligentHosting.com had experienced, the speed of the server was rather disappointing for me. FTP was sluggish, and so were HTTP requests.
