Hello,
What is the exact Signature length at WHT? Does it increase as we reach a certain amount of posts?
Thanks.

It is the same for all members, whether they have 1 post or 50,000 :)
The exact length is mentioned in the signature section of http://www.webhostingtalk.com/misc.php?s=&action=forum-rules ;)

from WHT Rules Must be kept to a maximum of four lines (at 1024 resolution).
What happens when a members signature exceeds that??
Is it possible to have that defined in characters instead of as it now is, i.e. xxx number of characters including spaces per line by 4 lines.

Just an educated guess Doc but I think it's because how much it takes to fill a line depends on font size.
The user is usually warned, and their signature is replaced with a notice that the user needs to read the forum rules.

I would have thought that was even more reason to define the amount of characters. Recently I observed a signature that was using 5 lines. I was veiwing this using a screen resolution of 1024 x 768. with the dpi set at standard (96 dpi) I was using Opera set at 100% Evidently others were only seeing four lines. Now as you point out "it is dependant upon font used and screen resolution." Well the rules say a screen resolution of 1024 it doesn't mention font. The problem I see is that it obviously displays differently depending on your resolution, font, browser, and monitor. If it was number of characters then that would eliminate all possible mis interpretation. When a member was inserting their signature they would simply be guides by the number. I think the number of characters should be defined for each line.
