I was hoping Headsurfer would change his mind about this. This would make the "Web Hosting Special Offers" forum less valuable since we wouldn't have the ability for users to question the features of an offer and illicit details about that offer for all to see and benefit from. I think not to allow replies is a wrong direction to take. A good alternative I think would be just to make all new threads sticky so they remain in their spot based on when it was posted, not influenced by when the thread was last posted to. Please reconsider not allowing replies to a thread. It would take alot of the value I've always found this forum had away.

I like the idea personally. Earlier today when hitting "refresh" for newest messages, I saw "jslivko" take up nearly 50% of the threads!
This isn't an attack on you jslivko, you were doing your bidding and I can't complain about that. :) I would just like to see these things go into PM's so we can talk about all the cool technical and fun stuff without being spammed by ads and such.

Agreed.
In the case where I place an advertisement here, I'd rather people ask questions here in the forum, so I can respond to them here, in one place.
In the case where I have a question about an ad here, it'd be nice just to post it rather than messing with a PM or email, and then having to track down the response.
Losing the ability to communicate via the forum would take away a lot of the value of this "hosting marketplace" that has existed here for some time.
But then again, I didn't just pay 6 figures for this site either, so I guess my opinion isn't all that important now is it??
Take care,
Brian

I rather like greggish's "sticky" idea. :)
The thread would stay in order. Yet, if you receive updates to new replies, you'll be able to communicate.
The only sticky thing I can see is; how long would it be stuck?

This is a little off-topic, but I'm curious where are you getting 6 figures from? I would be very surprised if it was more than 30K.

Personally I like the idea...gives big and small hosts equal exposure. Plus, it facilitates the introduction of the paid listings perfectly- if you want more exposure, you have to be willing to invest...
