Hello,

I have just bought a Cobalt RaQ4r,
and have some questions 'bout it...

1) How many pageviews/day can the RaQ4r serve?
2) Is the RaQ4r protected enough against hackers by just installing cobalts latest upgrades/updates?
3) What is the purpose of assigning multiple IP adresses to 1 RaQ4R?
4) Can I prevent the RaQ4r from lockup problems caused by 1 MySQL database user?

Thnx!

1) Really it depends on the pages themselves, the sites, the scripts, etc. There's no magic number anyone can give you. It can serve as many as it can, until it can't, and that's the limit.

2) Reasonably, however there are ways to make it more secure. A thread (or possibly a forum even) in itself to answer that one.

3) Having multiple nameservers running off the machine, unique IP sites, SSL, etc.

4) Not a mySQL expert by any means, and the issue isn't all that RaQ related (I'd look for sources about mySQL on any linux server and ways to prevent this). You can adjust things such as the number of concurrent connections, but really someone else needs to field this one.

Do a google search on securing a raq, search this forum or have a look here http://forum.rackshack.net/forumdisplay.php?forumid=20

1. I had two very popular sites moved off my RAQ 4r because they kept overloading the CPU. They had no CGI or Perl scripts.

2. When I did have an ad banner script, Apache would freak out when 5 or so people accessed the server at the same time. How am I suppose to serve banners and my business w/ the damn thing overheating and overloading?

I just got a rackshack Compaq box. No problems at all. Load times are under 0.2 and I have my 2 big sites that get a total of 60,000 hits/day on them :D

Wow....
That's quite another opinion...

And what type of CompaQ have you bought?
Is the web based interface for customers/yourself as good as Cobalt one's..?
