Hi,

This morning when I went to login to my Paypal
account didn't work.

When I entered my normal password, I was
immediately taken to the "forgot" password
page.

So I entered my email address, followed the
instructions to reset my password, and everything
was fine. I didn't notice anything wrong or suspicious
once inside my paypal account.

Has this happened to anybody else lately?

Is this something that PayPal routinely does
for security reasons?

I can't figure out why my password original
password didn't work and why I was prompted
to change it?

Thanks for your help.

I did a recent scan and no viruses. I'm aware of
key loggers and all that good stuff.

Has anybody else been prompted to change
their password like this?

I am not aware of anything that would automaticallyy take you to the forgotten password page and ask you to reset your password.

Somtimes PayPal will ask you to reset a password or perform some security action if there is something about your account that indicates it may have been compromised. For example if you access the account from outside your country of residence. But this is a normal security feature and you will receive an email message telling you what to expect net time you log in.

I have had this happen to me too if I accidentally press the tab key after entering my paypal email address in the the email field before hitting enter. The tab order on at least some of the paypal login pages is:

email address field -> Forgot your email address? -> Password: -> Forgot your password?

Perhaps that was the case for you as well.

Hi:
Incidently, I'm experiencing this same problem right now. This is the 2nd time in two weeks my Paypal password didn't work, and I was asked to reset it. Each time resetting it works, and nothing appears suspicious in the account (ie: no unauthorized transfers). Getting wierd.
