Well, I'm after 1 domain, which is about to expire on 08-Sep-2005 11:43:35 UTC. However, it's 13 minutes already after the expiring time and the status is still active/ok. When the grace period is usually starting?

Thank you.

You still got one month to renew your domain, it's on-hold now I believe. But if you want to continue using this domain, I suggest you to re-register it 30 days later, or you'll be charged $17x (if my memory is right) for the delay of renewing.

Thanks! But the question was why it's still showing as 'active'. I mean I WANT it to be in a pool ASAP (I know quite well about grace periods, etc).

Thanks again!

Your registrar is responsible for setting it to a Redemption Period status.

I had one domain active for several days after it had expired.

Even if expired it may show as active in whois. Who is the current registrar?

Hm... Not sure HOW this is gonna be possible.

Anyway, it's NOT my domain and I'm interested to register it ASAP after it will be available.

You'll have to wait a good month, probably longer, before you can register it.

Take this for example (http://www.whois.sc/1place2chat.com)

It's a site called 1place2chat.com It expired July 3rd, two months ago, it's currently pending delete and will probably be available sometime later today or tomorrow.

I'd suggest backordering the domain from a registrars site, but that's still no guarantee you'll get it.

Do domainsites expiring names go into the snapnames auction?

It's the choice of registrars whether to render inactive an expired
domain name or not. If memory serves me right, someone once
posted here that "his" expired name with go daddy remained up
and active until he finally renewed it. (and just in the nick of time,
too...)

I'm very lucky about the domain names :)
