Hi,

Is it good to donate portion of the sales to Katrina relieve fund?
How to make the donation transparent to our customers?
Would this idea receive positive response?

Thanks

Yes, I think that it would be a good idea. If your up for helping in a great cause then you should help out.

Although I thought it would be a good idea, it actually ended up being sorta bad PR.

Cheers.

Cheers. How so? Only way I can see it being a problem is if the company doesnt actually donate and its found out that they kept the money.

agreed, it is pretty much impossible for it to be bad PR. Short of charging more, if anything your customer could care less, or they would think its a good idea. I can't think of everyone who would say "argh, you are helping people who just got hit by a hurrican, you bastered" I mean come on, it is in no way bad PR

What would be your idea to proof to customers that you have donated?
Actually, i don't intend to charge more. Just donate a portion of the sales volume.

Well it might seem like bad PR to some, but we're doing it because we think every penny counts. Please don't think we are adding a shameless plug here but using it as an example:

We are donating 100% of all new order proceeds (the monthly charge) to the American Red Cross for this and next month. In order to prove that we are doing it, we will be posting the check at the end of the month and will update the image with the cancelled check as soon as we receive it.

It might seem like bad PR, but I'm willing to take that risk to help people in need. Let the masses say what they want but I know what we're doing! We should all do what we can do...

Thank You!

AlexF, thanks for your posting. And i do believe that every good or bad idea will be critisise. I think it should be alright as long we are doing good to others.

I live in Baton Rouge, we received the influx of evacuees from N.O. The red cross are setup here real good. I'd suggest donating to Red Cross, if anything.
