I am about to order a server in a day or so.
and I need to choose a linux system or something.
Which should I take
CentOS, Debain 3.0, Fedora Core 2, Slackware 10, Gentoo, freeBSD 4.10 or freeBSD 5,2'
Im going to have cPanel for a webhosting site
Thanks
This is more of a technical question, might want to post it in another category.
In any case, I would talk to whoever is going to be managing the server and getting their advice. Figure out exactly what this server will be doing, your needs/requirements, etc. and then make a decision.

Yes, it's best to talk to whoever will be managing your server for you. Find out which Linux distro they are most comfortable with and then go with that one.
(My choice would be Debian! :P)

I had talked to you earlier but I'll post my opinion again I'd say CentOS is the one to go with. We use it and haven't had any issues with it and YUM and many other things make it really easy to keep a server up to date or add a package or anything.

Linux is more stable and best suited if you going to host websites and things like that. Not the best for game servers though

I'd say CentOS or if you are looking for a server with easy maintenance, I'd go with Debian (apt-get and all those easy update stuffs...)

I think there is no cpanel support for Gentoo.

Did you mean Debian? As far as I'm aware, cPanel support for Debian is in (eternal) beta.
;)
