View Full Version : Seeking shopping cart with specific features

My website is nearing completion and the only thing left is the shopping cart integration by my web designer. I'm still undecided on who to go with on this. I'll be manually inputting credit card #'s, so I wouldn't need any gateway features for now, but in the future I might opt to have everything done automatically as things expand.

I'd like to have the standard group of features that most carts come with as well as some of the unique shipping/pricing features listed below.

-Progressive discounts for larger orders

-5 or more quantity being purchased would free shipping on most items that I sell

-Having a single shipping charge applied no matter how many items people buy, I don't want to add an additional chipping charge to each item, I prefer having a low flat rate charge that covers everything people buy. Say for instance, they order 3 widgets, they only get charged one shipping charge, whatever the higher priced shipping fee is, or if they're all the same item, they only get charged shipping once, whatever that price is for that item. I don't have many items that I'm selling, just 4 or 5 gadget type items, one which comes in 2 colors and then the chronograph watches I sell for instance will come in 4 color variations. To make things simple, I might make all of the gadget style items have the same shipping charge, and the watch items have a higher shipping charge. That might be easier to do this way? Nevertheless, I'd still only want ONE shipping charge applied to their order no matter how many they buy, as well as getting free shipping if they buy 5 or more.

-Different shipping rates applied for Canada or International shipments

If anyone can recommend a reasonbly priced cart system that supports any or all of these features, or can have the source code customized to do so, please let me know at your earliest convenience. I've looked at numerous ones so far, and the only two I found that would work, one had horrible support who doesn't email me back after a few emails, and the other needed to have Chillisoft installed to be ran on Unix servers, which my webhost doesn't support. So now I'm back to square one again.

Thanks for your time,

David

I've had very good results with Merchant Order Form (www.merchantorderform.com). The shipping options can be very customized, and if you wish, there is a space where you can write your own Perl code to handle the shipping.

This page describes some of the advanced shipping options. http://www.merchantorderform.com/support_shipping.html

Thanks for the recommendation on www.merchantorderform.com. I like the clean look of that cart, and the price, well, that can't be beat either. That one seems fit my needs perfectly, not too complicated, but good enough to get the job done, as well as being reasonably priced.

Thanks again,

David
