Vortech stealing my credit  Vortech 04-09-2002, 06:33 PM Nope your just to slow to find some thing better.. :) :) :) Need to work on that posting finger and whip it in to shape.. hehe Got to find deals, make deals no time for slow posting here.. hehe J/K Yea Everyday is the one that showed this to me and seems like a good idea but just want to make sure they are the only or the best ones out there.. :) jic 04-09-2002, 07:32 PM I really think you should invest in WhatsUp Gold and put it on a box outside of the network. I know last night around 3 AM my home computer woke me up with a loud ass siren "A SERVER IS DOWN". I was able to jump on it and reboot the server remotely (thank god for those great power strips that are web ready) and everything was cool. The customer never even noticed the downtime (that was caused by one of his scripts anyhow). Vortech 04-09-2002, 10:13 PM This is not to check if servers is up. MatrixRS 07-01-2002, 05:18 PM This is to check to make sure you have no big holes in your system to keep every thing safe.. ;) DesElms 07-02-2002, 05:31 AM Originally posted by Avail I wouldn't trust any company that has a quote by Ronald Regan on their main page :D Especially when there's no way of verifying with him that he actually said it. ;) isildur 07-03-2002, 12:43 AM IMHO Scanalert was an extremely elementary approach as far as a security scan. It provided adequate reporting but the details were along the lines of "Frontpage server extensions detected.... Frontpage contains a variety of security holes.... please uninstall to remain completely secure" In all honesty I don't think I am stretching too far here. ;) It might be something you can sell to those dedicated clients that are fairly clueless as far as what's happening technically on their box. But for semi-newbie 's and up, you can easily detect that there really isn't much usable detail here. I understand viewing a site with a big phat graphic that sez "VALIDATED secure by SCANALERT" is something to tout, for some people.... but the actual procedure that was demonstrated to me was nothing to write home to mom about. I'm still hunting for some other potentials along this theme- if anyone finds anything g00d, please post 'em up Thanks! MatrixRS 07-03-2002, 04:52 PM Only think i like is it also lets you know of new problems that come up. Yea the i have to say the FP thing is kind of silly.. LOL Over all we have found it to to be good for new user like you said.. Real ADV users it might not be too good for.. "Espcially when there' s no way of verifying with him that he actually said it," not because none of us could ever reach, be acknowledged by and, therefore, verify anything with a former president (although that's probably true, too), but because of the Alzheimer's. Get it? Oh geez... it's true what they say, isn't it? If you have to explain a joke... :) Just screwin' around. albatroz 07-03-2002, 11:05 PM Any update on this? I have found this one http://www.qualys.com and probably became a reseller of them albatroz 07-03-2002, 11:07 PM Any new update on this? I have found http://www.qualys.com and probably became a reseller of them MatrixRS 07-03-2002, 11:32 PM Pricing for http://www.qualys.com is about 10x that from scanalert and looks like it does the same thing.. qualys.com 1 Site $995 (Not sure if this is per month or year.) Scanalert 1 site 79.95 per month. Much cheaper if i am reading that right. albatroz 07-04-2002, 12:13 AM Qualys is $995 per year... any number of scans There is a slight difference as Qualys can scan ANY server I mean, a firewall, an email server, a database server provided they have a public accesible IP address, while ScanAlert is a webserver-only oriented service mixed with a sort of Alertra.com and oriented to websites hosted by third parties (like most of us). albatroz 07-04-2002, 12:57 AM qualys states having 1800 vulnerabilities in its database and scanalert only 1000+ frozen 07-10-2002, 12:56 AM I have been using them almost a month now. All is going well and the scans they have performed have been very informational for us. They scan us daily. We set the time, the intensity of the scan, etc. As of now there is three scans to choose from(this is all customizable via a control panel.) Non Evasive Scan, Hacker Simulation Scan, And DoS Attack Simulation. I can provide more information if anyone wants to hear about it. I actually had never heard about them until they called us. They call us lmost on a daily basis to check up and make sure everything is going ok and for feedback. albatroz 07-10-2002, 10:11 AM Which one are you using scanalert or qualys? frozen 07-10-2002, 11:18 AM scanalert, sorry allan 07-10-2002, 04:23 PM I've used ScannerX (http://www.scannerx.com) before, and was happy with their service, versus the price. |
