Ok, I know when you sign up with a hosting company, they give you their nameservers, like ns1.hosting.com and ns2.hosting.com

How does this work, if ns1.hosting.com is no-responsive, you go to ns2??

Could you have two webhosting providers and setup your domain dns like this:

ns1.host1
ns2.host1
ns1.host2
ns2.host2

And if the first host ever had any "downtime" problems, your site would route to your "backup" host?

Thanks for any info.....

I recommend doing a search on this, as it's been discussed several times recently.

If you could post a link to a recent thread, I would greatly appreicate it, I have tried different searches, but its hard to narrow my question down to a few words that will generate appropriate reponses....lol

thanks though!

Why would it have to be a recent thread? I don't think that there have been any major changes in the way that DNS works in awhile. :)
