I am a long time reader but first time poster. I had a question that you might be familiar with so help is much appreciated!

I am thinking of applying for a linux systems administrator position dealing with virtual hosting, dedicated servers, and cisco routers, switches and phone support. The problem is, it is a 3rd shift position (night shift). With over 3 years of hands-on experience in the field, I am wondering how much of a salary I could realistically expect. Do night shift admins get paid more or less? And if there are any night shifters out there, how has your life changed with the weird hours?

Well I can't speak for SoCal but actually in Ontario Canada we pay shift premiums for after hours work but normally don't have cisco certified people hanging around outside of core hours unless doing specific scheduled work.
