Attached is what I've currently got as my comapny logo. To be honest, I'm not thrilled with it. What do you think?

If you have any ideas or want to submit any design proposals, samples, etc, I'll be more than happy to entertain them! I'd be willing to trade hosting services, domain registration or ca$h for the right one!

Thanks!

Apparently you can't add an attachment when after saving a post and trying to edit it

1. Interesting typeface
2. Too long of a motto (under the logo)
3. Better off using a design element that is not photography but graphics/vector.
4. Needs different colors to spice things up

the picture:

my tips:
(1) take out the background, it will LOOK better if it was just the 2 gears. trust me.
(2: 3d look) try looking at htmlgear.com 's logo and something like that, im not telling u to rip it off or something. (u see those 3d gears in the background beside their logo, those are really cool)
(3) don't make it FLAT, try making it look.........i can't explain but i'll just try to draw it here:

| \
| \
| \
| |
| /
| /
| /

(should be wider but u get the picture)

(4: 2d look) try taking a pental pen and draw a gear only the outlines on a sheet of papar. experiment. USE different pental pen colours like blue, yellow, green, etc. (i might not consider red)
(5) these types of logos are good if ur overall webpage background is white.

logo:(text)
(1) the font for your company name looks ok. but u can improve on that by experimenting the two words into two different fonts, not just in one font.
(2) just like timechange said, your motto is too long.
(3) if a person sees "gadgetcomputing" wouldn't the first thing that comes in their minds is "www.gadgetcomputing.com"? i know i would. so der is no need to add ur address on ur logo.

just my 5 dimes...

You need to use fixed font to do that :D

I think you wanted to add perspective to the logo :D

Well, for one you should try to "streamline" the tagline. Make it shorter, but catchy and encompassing.

I'll add something to this comment once I get to my design artist.

EDIT: The designer says, the logo will have to be redesigned. Sorry. We will also take care of the tagline for you. Just check out our portfolios.

How about this for a short tagline:
"You pick it, we stick it" :D

I think it looks good already, but some of the suggestions in this thread were really good. Mainly, take the background out of the gears and just use some shadow. and also add some prospective and/or shading to the letters.

timechange, I'm curious about something you said. what advantages do vector-based images have in a logo, if it's mainly for website use and not print? Provided he saves the original psd in full size, I can't think of any limitations he'll have down the road.

Ghostie,

That version is better. :) Very good!

Well, there are always room for improvements.

Good luck gadget!

you should really pick one color scheme and stick to it though

I'm actually not stuck on the "gear" concept... To be honest, the name Gadget Computing was inspired by "Inspector Gadget" - a nickname my wife gave me

I thought of using the "Inspector" for a bit, but I'm sure there are so many trademarks and copyrights of the image and the "Go Go Gadget..." tag.

If anyone has any other ideas, PLEASE let me know!

Thanks!

I like the revised logo but it looks so much like onw computer magazine's font. I can't remember which one :)

For the gear, see if someone with a 3D program can slap one together for you.
