OK im trying to get h-sphere installed on my server.

This is my first message in the ticket:

Company Name: NekoDigital Inc.

Contact information and mailing address:
my address

domain name is: nekodigital.com

ip: x.x.x.x

root pass: <not a chance>
I dont have any other users on it for doing SU, it is just gonna be a fresh install of centOS

Just install it all on this server, im gonna add more in the future.

And I need to make sure that it has apache, mysql, and php installed (preferably with mod_ssl)

Also i need to know when it will be started, because im gonna shut the server down and format before it happens.

and here is their response:
Please register in our My-HSphere and sent us your user ID.
For more details plese point in your browser to:

Positive Software Corporation

here is my response:
ID: xxxxxx
Username: Xephonics

and once again just tell me when you are gonna start, cus i need a few hours to backup and to re-install my os

well as you see from my two posts, i wanted a little warning so i could do a backup. They are not very fast at responding (once every 24 hours), so I wanted to leave my site up as long as possible.

now look at the first paragraph from their next reply.

We have installed H-Sphere 2.4 on your server
Now we are testing your system, and will let
you know when we have finished it.

now warning was given, or anything, just BAM, "we installed it"

now with that they overwrote my whole mysql database set. Yes every database in it was over written. You'd think with 2 clear statements of wanting a warning I would have got one right? Yah, i thought so too. But now im screwed, the most recent backup is 28 days old (cus my backup from a week ago was for some reason never finished downloading).

Just a warning to all you guys who want to try and turn a server to h-sphere, they dont give warnings and dont read all of your posts.

I'm highly irriatated right now, and am having a hard time undersanding how this even happened.

I am really sorry about the incident.
Please, contact me at iseletsk@psoft.net - I don't know if we can do anything at all to correct the situation, but I definatly want to figure out what went wrong :(

well the install guy might have not been up to par, but the management is definately quite professional.

my warning still stands, make sure you have everything backed up before your request something.

but my faith has been resored in psoft

Greetings:

What I'm about to state is neither here nor there as it applies to H-Sphere directly.

Systems should be backed up regularly in any event.

Especially before any major installations or changes.

This would be true with cpanel, Ensim, etc.

Thank you.

Peter, backups should be made yes, But a company should read tickets and follow what is said regardless.

Greetings Steven:

Yes, I agree with you that companies should read tickets and follow them.

Thank you.

Come on though, what are you doing installing on a live/semi live system?
I do agree tickets should be read properly, but this is 100% psofts fault either.

"Note: Setting up new software may affect the operability of your server, thus there must not be any production software running. Positive Software takes no responsibility for any hardware and/or software failures that may occur during installation."

im not saying it was psoft's fault, it was the tech's fault

but I agree i should have done a backup just incase, then do one when they notified me, but i just assumed my request would be followed.

anyways, iseletsk made it up to me, and has been there for me the whole way (he even had them install it this weekend for me)

psoft is a good company, hands down

psoft is a good company, hands down If psoft is a good company "hands down" then why don't you ask a Moderator to change the title of this thread where you are slagging them off for a problem that is arguably your fault?

All I was suggesting is that the title of this thread doesn't properly convey your own sentiment, you said they are a good company. Your only beef was that they didn't read the ticket properly. If you had done your due diligence, then you would have had backups and your experience with psoft would not have been 'horrid'.

It was merely a suggestion, take it for what it's worth.

For the record I don't use psoft, I am simply making a comment about the thread in general.

I actually disagree with you.

Yes, he should have had backups, but that in no way reflects upon the psoft tech disreguarding the customer's direct wishes, and in no way minimizes the damage.

Sure, it's odd, but that's why your supposed to read the tickets :D
