Rackshack is paying $21.87/click! Could have payed $10.01/click and get the same placing since the next one is at $10.00/click.

Heh, no method5.

Advertiser will appear on 1-3 position in Altavista, Yahoo, MSN, Lycos. That mean they are getting no less then 10.000 clicks per day.

10.000 x 23 = $230000 per day.

I know that ad in the bottom of altavista "Try These Resources:"
get approx 800-1100 clicks per day. (I have a talk about that place with Chris Feldwisch <chris.feldwisch@av.com> (altavista)"

Really unbelievable how they spend that marketing budget. The funny thing is that I don't think that our advertisers would be pleased if they found out that they are paying $23 per click :)

That really does seem crazy!! I wonder if it's worth it??? I can't really see how it is. They would need to have some very good conversion rates for that to be worth that kind of money!! ;) ;)

Cost for aquisition of a customer increases with size. Consider Interland's CEO said his company pays $500.00 per new customer. This is shared also. I have heard of other companies higher then this.

Gee, if Interland -- or anybody else -- pays $500 per customer aquired, how long does it take them to break even, on average I wonder?

How much do you think the average customer aquisition cost per customer is for host on this board?

Thanks,

Louis

So why can't I click RackShack's link ten times and get a free dedicated server? :D It's costing them the same. ;)

Gee, wouldn't you like it if some person was clicking on all of your links in directorys or search engines and costing your company money. I know I would!

Let's remember, these arent stupid companies, they are clearly coming close to even with the cost or they would stop doing it. Also, although ovature is far from perfect, they do catch most repeat clicks rather well.

brianF

we drain 2-3k/month on overture
we know exactly how many sport clicks we expect and incorporate it into our roi analysis- if im movin too fast ill slow down

look at our first post re this issue-we dont like it but we do look at the competition and they look at us

aint ip trackin smooth, incorporate a cookie and you see repeats that stay for maybe 5 sec-they are sport clickers and yessthey all stink and we do too cause we look also

an honest hypocrit, ahhh

I always wondered what that was called.

Sport clicking, hmm...

It almost makes it sound like fun.

I don't like the people who sport click on our ads.

I am often tempted to scan their machine for known vulnerabilites.

Most ppc search engines are good at catching the repeat sport clicks, but not the initial ones.
