Just curious, was talking to a support rep for RocketColo about an invoice and all of a sudden, emails start bouncing back from VortechHosting.

Checked NS and sure enough, it's been changed.

Can anyone confirm?

Yup, confirmed by Vortech.:agree:

They are the same company, I think they have been for a long time.

Vortech's support confirmed they bought them out. I always thought they were just in the same datacenter, not the same company.

Based on that thread it does not happen until (9/5/05)

maybe it is a typo.

Already happened, looks like a typo.

It has definitely happened already.
My server crashed on Sept 2/05, when I tried to fill out a RocketColo Support ticket to get things fixed I found that I had to email Vortech Hosting.
I am not very happy about the change, RocketColo would have had me up and running the next day. I am still not up and running yet. The support that Vortech offers is much, much, much less than what RocketColo offered.
After receiving confirmation that a data backup was successful before they re-imaged the machine, they ended up losing that image and restoring a 1 year old image. However according to them they are not responsible for doing backups even though they say they have done it.
I am still waiting for them to earn my business, so far it is not looking good.
If you want zero support then Vortech may be a place to go. I would not trust any backups they say they have done. If you are in a crunch, you better come up with the cash first.

zx-12r.org, your hard drive died nothing to do with vortech taken over your system and was just really bad timing by the hard drive.

You account does not have management on it or backup services. This is a Dedicated meaning it would be up to you to make your own backups we don't do this for you. We replaced your hard drive and tried to be nice and recover your files for free to help. Something we were not obligated to do. But did it because we wanted to try and help.

We got your box backup and running for you OS and Plesk like you wanted. We told you where we put the backup that should have been it for us. But you still needed help so we tried to help a bit more. But it seems the more we helped the more help you needed.

If you would like us to fix it we offered you a solution for us to help fix it, you did not like that option. I am not sure what you think we did wrong here as I see us going beyond what we were paid for already in trying to help you the best we could.

I really do hope you get sites back up, I am a big Kawasaki Ninja fan my self. ;)

I appreciate the support, however losing a years worth of members and client data is putting me in a very tough situation. Plus being down for so long is not helping as well.
However if I do get the site back up again, it would be good to see you on the board.

Rocketcolo was essentially a semi-managed server. You have made it clear Vortech is un-managed, this change over of support while my site was down puts me in a situation that I did not have to deal with for the years I was with RocketColo

Hrmm, never knew RC was semi-managed. What did they manage for you?

I am 99% sure they were owned by the same owner, I guess they are just rolling them together.

I am 100% sure they were owned by 2 different owners. They were just in the same server center.
