Hi all,

I just came upon this and thought that at least you should be warned.

WARNING:

Your Paypal account can be frozen at any time, without advance notice leaving you without your money for weeks (if not forever), and there isn't much you can do about it. Paypal is currently being investigated by regulatory authorities in four states!

For more info, please visit
http://paypalwarning.com/

:: i am not associated with any of the sites or have nothing to gain from making this post, and nor do I have any paypal accounts either.. i am just trying to help prevent the next victim::

If you think that this all is true, please pass on the message.

Use this as a paypal alternative:
Amazon.Com's Honor System

Thanks!

I would think that most companies retain the right to freeze your account at any time...

I've been using paypal for almost a year now, they've never been anything but good to me. There are people out there who complain about one service or another, if I listened to all of them there would be no options for accepting payments online.

paypal.com really sucks. they will freeze your account without any reason and will not answer any of your email. i sent them more then 10 emails because they freezed my account for no reason. Now they are asking for credit card statements, driving license xerox etc.

so i no more do business with them.

I agree PayPal sucks. I sold a car a while back and the transport guy broke the power antenna some how and the jerk who bought it called PayPal without even calling me and complained. I told them it was fine and you can see it in the auction pictures on EBay.. So anyway they froze my account.. Could get get ANY money our OR receive payments for a whole month.. After there "investigation" they found the truck transport service at fault and unfroze me.. So I took my money out and ran like hell.. I guess there ok for some people but I would highly suggest staying away WAY AWAY ....

Stupid question, Why would you use Paypal for something like selling a car?

Solution: withdraw immediately! Don't sit around and wait, PayPal can't keep your money locked up if they don't have it.

By the way, I've used PayPal for thousands of dollars of auctions through eBay and have never had any problems.

I will (again) ask for your account email address to have your issue looked at.

As it relates to that email, that email is an attempt to gather your user name and password. PLEASE DO NOT ENTER any information at that site. ALWAYS login at www.paypal.com to be on the safe side. That email did not come from PayPal...the matter has been reported to our fraud team.

I sold it on EBay and I know alot of people who had used it before to do it.. Its alot quicker than waiting for a check via snailmail.

My apologies...I kind of spaced out a bit:) We had a recent "spoof" site email go out, so I initially read the issue incorrectly...

I realize that a lot of people look at paypalwarning.com. However, please keep in mind that PayPal has well over 10 million users. All customer situations can be resolved/explained

Things that come to mind-
1. The owner of the site is not readily identifiable
2. The site admits to not verifying stories
3. The site does not compare a customer issue to company policy (such as issues where a buyer had an issue with a seller..or where chargebacks are involved)
4. I am aware of several customer issues on there (that were verifiable) that were corrected. There is no space to remove/correct information on there---this is at the discretion of the party holding the site.
5. Account restrictions, despite the amount of attention they draw out here, are actually quite rare. They can be resolved with the assistance of the user, which may require supplying documentation.

Nearly any party can throw up a site about why company xyz stinks. I would hope that users rely on personal experiences with any company than comments on message boards.

Hello PayPalDeamon,

I don't go what they have to say at paypalwarnings.com and who ever is the owner of the web site. :erm:

BUT

what ever I read about paypal.com on that web site seems to be true because i am facing similar situation. Paypal.com freezes account without any warning or reason. YOU GUYS (paypal.com) even don't bother to provide reason why you froze the account and then ask for documentation. :crap:

and i don't feel necessary to supply my credit card statements to paypal.com without any explanation or notice why paypal.com needs that much detailed financial information of account owner? This information can be used to abuse credit card holder. FYI, i have verified 3 credit cards with paypal.com.

Big No to paypal.com. :uhh:

Best of luck in retaining your other customers. :smokin:

p.s.: Though Paypal.com sucks (really sucks believe me) paypaldeamon rocks because he is the guy who try to cover bad asses
of his company by helping victim customers ;)

Big No

Regardless of others,
I haven't had any problems with paypal for nearly two years.
I've been selling/buying things with paypal since then - no problems.

I absolutely think they SHOULD be able to freeze accounts. If they are on the hook for a transaction that goes bad, they should be able to freeze the account until they investigate.

There are a lot of very dishonest people out there looking for any and every way to take advantage of systems and people. So, if something goes bad they need to be able to have some way of assuring that they will not get hung out to dry.

It's the old saying..."if your honest and not doing anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about..." Sure it is an inconvenience to have your account frozen, but that is the case with lots of things that protect us. You can be detained and questioned in a police investigation...it is a pain, but it is the price we pay to be protected.

If you were on the other side of the transaction you would want to make sure that there were some measures in place to keep you safe.

It still doesn't change the fact that I have offered to assist you in resolving the restriction . As I have stated, they are resolvable....but they do require your cooperation. I can't advise you without the account email address WHY the account was restricted.

The reasons for a restriction can be found in our USER AGREEMENT. If one of these items has happened, then the account would be restricted until the documentation has been provided. I realize that account restrictions, which are quite rare and do impact some legitimate users at times, are inconvenient. But these measures are in place to protect individual users, as well as the user base, from fraudulent activity.
