View Full Version : Alternative to Stargate's new price? SRSPlus.com (a Verisign Company) for $8/year ?
napme 04-09-2002, 12:27 AM Since Stargateinc.com has increased their fees ($10 transfer & $13.95 renewal), I went looking around to start transferring away from them before my domains expire. Starting at ICANN's accredited registrars on the following link :
http://www.icann.org/registrars/accredited-list.html
I see that SRSPlus.com offers .com, .net, .org for $8/year. Look for yourself :
http://www.srsplus.com/en-def-3e75c81af560/en/srsplus/partners_pricing.shtml
I just don't the wording "a Verisign Company" which comes back to "Network Solutions" = "Bad".
Any suggestions/experiences ?
Abu Mami 04-09-2002, 12:37 AM Huh? I must be getting old 'cause their site gave me a headache. I couldn't figure out what they offer - except for domain names of course. Can anyone buy from them, or do you have to be a "partner"? What services do they offer? URL/email forwarding? DNS? I admit that the information is probably there somewhere, it's just that my brain shut down after a few minutes browsing their site.
napme 04-09-2002, 12:41 AM I'd had the same problem too.
I was also searching to see what services (URL forwarding, etc) do they actually offer and can't seem to find it.

ckevin 04-09-2002, 01:15 AM I used to be their Partner/Reseller, you need to deposit 500$ and start buying domains from their websites after login, they provide API but you need to develop your own scripts and setup communication between your server and theirs. I hate NSI, that's why I left after their acquisition. They offer personal support and assign an Account Manager to you after you signed up. Response is fast. But again, I always stay away from NSI...
Incognito 04-09-2002, 08:59 PM Just Netsol, NSI, and all the above are too problematic. Rules, added costs, lack of service. Too many good registrars to have to deal with all they dish.
Acroplex 04-09-2002, 09:37 PM Get a bulk account with Stargate: 51 credits at $8 each.
Then you can register/renew/transfer at that rate.
Not only that: once you run out of these credits you can buy more (as few as 1) at the same $8 rate.
Saved all my reselling headaches :D

I emailed them yesterday and asked them if they have a demo of their FastTrack and API interface available.
They work their prices out on how many .tv domains you sell a month, and you have to - yes, you have to - offer .tv domains through your site. If not, you have to provide a link to their retail .tv site on your site where your visitors can go and purchase .tv domains.
And yeah, I also got a major headache from browsing their site :stickout:
Anyways, here is their reply to my email:
Hello Dylan,
Thank you for contacting SRSplus.com.
Please provide your SRSplus account info to locate your account profile.
We can offer you a demo of our FastTrack. API interface is basically
your registration system interface.
We hope this information has been helpful in resolving this situation.
If you have questions or require additional assistance, please do not
hesitate to contact us by replying to this email.

Do they charge any fee to change the registrant and can we manage our domains info?
Thank you
TheOp 04-10-2002, 06:05 PM Registrant changes and admin changes are free with stargate.com

If you need that much, it is cheaper to use onlinenic.com (http://www.onlinenic.com) .

Seems that they are Chinese, despite their San Francisco address.

You think browsing SRSPlus's website gives you a headache
I don't know if it's just bad luck on my behalf or what, but dealing with this one person in particular at OnlineNIC will make your head explode
There is this one person there that is very prompt and helpful, but they have limited capabilities due to the one person that I'm referring to above.
Abu Mami 04-11-2002, 02:01 AM My apologies to timechange.

I didn't say it's a problem; all I said was that they appear to be Chinese. Don't misquote my statement.

ckevin 04-11-2002, 07:03 AM timechange, yeah, the whole company is chinese owned and they are chinese staff. They are willing to help, although they are not that "technical" ;)
