View Full Version : DIYHosting issues?
kdhost 08-31-2005, 03:49 PM Hi All,
Is it just me or is DIY having some serious issues and not saying anything?
Here are my concerns:
2005-08-22: CP and MYSQL went down for 2 hours.
Last comment from DIY: "An RFO (Reason For Outage) will be forthcoming later this evening..."
Instead, forums were taken offline: "The community forum is currently down for upgrades and development work..." and are still down.
2005-08-29: WEB-02 went down for a few hours. No comments from DIY.
2005-08-30: All web servers (except web-07) were under really heavy load for 4 hours (5 to 9 AM EST). It was practically impossible to reach any websites on these servers.
Thoughts?
cr-hosting 08-31-2005, 03:54 PM I do not know if they are having issues but it has been stable. The only problem I had with them was the cp issue. They have been a little slow on the response, their forum has not been active for some time now.
but they have been stable.
I am stil lwaiting on that report as well.
cr-hosting 08-31-2005, 04:34 PM thats not good news I just passed a few sites to them.

I spoke with a tech yesterday and he only added more concern. First, he had no clue about the existence of diy247.net and why the forums are down (Me: "Apparently, you're some kind of an outsourced tech support?", tech: "No! I've been with the company for 3 years!") and then he proceeded to deny any problems with the web servers...
cr-hosting 08-31-2005, 06:12 PM would be nice to see a post from the DIY guys here. Their forums has not been working lately.
support is really not as good as it was in the begninning
cr-hosting 08-31-2005, 06:17 PM this is how reseller center started before the merger with vip hosting

Of course They're using an outsourced tech support, because the support it's too slow.
I suggest change the hosting provider ASAP.
DIYHosting never has, and never will use outsourced support. Every staff member is in-house.
For those wondering about the downtime on Mysql and CP a little under two weeks ago: The RFO was made available to those who requested it from Dean, as per his post in the announcement forum.

wotech 08-31-2005, 07:05 PM I just switched from DIY today. I was having ASP session problems and they quit responding to my tickets. Also, the server my sites are on had been down numerous times in the past couple days and without them posting anything to diy247.net. They were so good... hate to have to switch.
lazario 09-03-2005, 11:28 AM I think suscribe to kdhost post. They are definetly having big issues. I am a reseller of them and suffer some of the issues you are writting too.
And having the same feeling they don't whant this to be heart.
Three of my sites in windows boxes have been down for 11 hours now !!!. And a lot of hours for last three months.
The told me on the phone that they will migrate the server but they haven't yet.
And now they are not responding my questions directly.
The forum is also down so I am posting here.
I realy a lit bit lost with this. Perhaps they should be a little more honest and simple tell the truth.

Zoren 09-03-2005, 05:26 PM BigBison,
You seem to feel the obligation to run defense for DIYHosting. I'd like to ask what your association with DIY is. Do you now host with, or have you hosted in the past with DIYHosting?
I agree there are some posts that have little valuable content in them but I wouldn't call their original complaints baseless. DIYhosting has a history of attacking unhappy customers or sending their proxies here to post a weak defense. It is well documented here that DIYHosting has problems responding to legitimate customer concerns in a timely or professional manner. There are numerous threads concerning their tendency not to answer their telephone. I have not seen IHSL ever regret a customer's difficulty. DIY responds with blame placed elsewhere or weak excuses.
Their forum has been down for almost 2 weeks now. They do a purge of posts with complaints every so often and blame some sort of data failure. They are still using their expired security certificate. This is something they have done in the past and don't seemed concerned over.
I would expect to see many more DIYHosting threads in the near future if they don't make a major change over there. You may want to reconsider your defense of their actions.

BigBison 09-03-2005, 05:37 PM  Oh good grief. I'm so tired of this. Every time I defend a host for any reason the accusations start flying that I'm somehow not on the level. What's your problem, Zoren? I've only ever posted in two DIY threads, both in response to domotre.
I have no problem with people posting their experience with a host, but domotre simply received a bill after cancelling. As far as I know, DIY apologized. So why the vendetta? It doesn't make sense. I haven't addressed any other issue regarding DIY, ever.
