I can buy either Corel (http://www.corel.com/)DRAW Essentials for $59.95 or Jasc (http://www.jasc.com/) Paint Shop Pro 7 10th Anniversary Edition for $89.95. Price difference isn't that big of a deal for me between the two. I can't afford Adobe PhotoShop.

I am planning on making stunning web graphics and am looking for more of a program that'll teach a novice how to become a master (or mediocre beginner even). I want to learn how to make the amazing graphics. I won't be using most of the "photo filters" on either of the programs, but may be filtering some screenshots (FYI - making an XBOX small gaming fansite).

If you've had experiences with either of these products please post your opinions and suggestions.

Moderators feel free to move this, but I couldn't find a better place to put it then directly in front of the deisgners themselves.

I haven't used CorelDRAW®, but it doesn't sound like what you're looking for. Paint Shop Pro® just plain kicks butt and is a really good alternative to Photoshop®.

Paint Shop Pro is great. Get that, even though it's more expensive. I've used it since.... since I used a 14.4 modem and that was fast. Very good program!

I've only used PSP, but like it. Would recommend you purchase that one at least.

PSP is a kick ass program. I have Adobe Photoshop and I still use psp to create the bottom layer. Also you can install .abr (I think thats the file for adobe brushes) in psp so you can have tons of different brushes.

I have never used Corel Draw. I love my PSP, started off with PSP 4. I have 7 now and I still use Adobe PS 5.

I only have used PSP 7. So I can't comment on CorelDRAW Essentials. Has anyone have experiences with CorelDRAW Essentials?

Why did whoever it was vote for CorelDraw? People have said what makes PSP their choice. Mystery voter, why is CorelDraw your choice?

Thanks for all your help, the poll and suggestions speak for themself. I'll probably getting Jasc PSP7 10th Anniversary very soon. If you own CorelDRAW Essentials (modified version of CorelDRAW 9) please post something! I can't wait for my new site to launch.

P.S. If you're looking to buy PSP7 Amazon.com is having a sale where you can get that plus PSP7 For Dummies for $80 (with mail-in rebate). Good deal! :)

Paint Shop Pro 7 is my choice even above Photoshop and it's a lot cheaper.
