We've been looking at alot of affiliate programs lately and are leaning towards clickxchange. The one thing I don't quite understand is that alot of hosting companies offer 20, 30, 50 even $100 per sale, even though they may offer a $9.95 per month hosting plan. It seems like the flat rate per sale attracts more affiliates than does the percentage of sale (which I'm more inclined to do). So are these companies just banking on the fact that the new customer will stay with them long enough to make this a worthwhile transaction? It seems like the host could end up losing money if they're not careful. Or am I missing something here? Is this just a risk taken in exchange for getting more affiliates?
