Greetings and Salutations Everyone!
First of all, I hope I have placed this post in the appropriate forum… And if not, would a MOD be kind enough to move it for me? First of all, I hope I have placed this post in the appropriate forum… And if not, would a MOD be kind enough to move it for me? :)
Alright, this is the deal… I am in need of a ‘template’ system supporting a popular and stable forum software that I can use across multiple sites. While I prefer vBulletin, phpBB or something similar is probably just as good if not better… This ‘template’ must have an easily updated header and footer (via PHP probably using b2 as the engine). Must also sport a side bar much like the forum @ webhostingtalk.com. IE: A place specifically for navigation, advertising, general information, search section and etc.
I almost feel I need something similar to the appearance of a ?NUKE? type site or that of a ‘portal’… Considering we will be using a popular forum software of some sort (probably vB or phpBB) I would insist we have custom graphics for the forum so as it didn’t look like everyone elses.
Both the header and footer will contain much information that will need to be changed often (hence the PHP/b2 additions)… Mostly text, though graphics would be nice if you could invent something that could easily be duplicated for every site this ‘template’ is used on.
My only problem with vB is the licensing… When I emailed the crew there concerning bulk-buying or a multi-use agreement of SOME SORT I never received a reply and have since not much cared for their software. BUT, if anyone has any ideas, suggestions or etc for my obtaining this software at a fraction of the cost considering the number of sites this ‘template’ will be installed… Please post here or PM/Email me!
In any case, I will be opting for several mods/hacks to be used. I know what I need, but will have to locate examples and/or explain the details as so you can equip the template(s) with the proper modifications. I will also be wanting to modify the smilie package of whatever forum software we choose… Along with the stock buttons and etc… Everything will more than likely need re-done.
A designer / forum developer / forum hacker with some graphic design skills would be ideal for the job… But, I’ve had bad luck tracking one down via sites and sending emails. So, maybe this posting will work? We’ll see…
Keep in mind that I will be needing to apply this ‘template’ to MANY sites in the near future so you may have to walk me thru the first few as to assure I’ve got it down and won’t be messing things up! :P Seriously, I am somewhat intelligent and learn quickly (especially this sort of stuff), am somewhat familiar with PHP & mySQL and the installation of b2 and vB… So, I think telling/teaching me won’t be much of a chore… At least I hope it doesn’t turn out to be! :)
So, if there is anyone out there who thinks they are capable of the task(s) above for around $100-$300 please shoot me an email, PM or post here with your contact info, examples of previous work (graphic, design, forum, whatever), ideas, estimated time completed and price quote (bid). Once the ‘template’ is completed I would consider hiring this person again for future involvement of this and other projects (I’ve many!!!).
Again, I apologize if I posted this ‘plea’ in the entirely wrong forum! Please move if necessary.
