Hi, I am new to this forum. I am a designer for a retail store with experience in web design but none in E-Commmerce. I have designed the site in dreammweaver and want to be able to use dreammweaver for the shopping cart contents' looks. I definetly do not want a template, so therefore we have looked into Shopsite and X-Cart. It seems that ShopSite would be a bit easier for me, but it is so expensive as compared to X-Cart. Have any of you guys used Shopsite, X-Cart or both, and have examples of custom work done within? If any of you have any thoughts or information about ShopSite or X-Cart and would not mind speaking your mind, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help that any of you could give. Have a great day!

Thanks,
Tiffany

Hello Tiffany,

ShopSite is reasonably priced if you lease it from a shopiste hosting partner. Generally, your monthly fees will include hosting, the license and support. I simply dont think you can compare shopsite and xcart, as they are completely different beasts. x-cart has been heavily modified in order to provide "similar" functionality to shopsite - however, it still doesnt fit the bill. Shopsite truely generates static pages - additionally, you can easily integrate a shopping cart into your static pages generated by dreamweaver. I am not permitted to post sample site and the suh, however, shopsite enables you the ability to truely create a custom look and feel with your shopping cart - you are not bound by any programming restrictions what-so-ever.
