Hello All,

I have been looking at both and know that Zen is based on OSC. It looks like ZEN is easier to skin and fool around with. It also seems like ZEN is being updated more frequently.

However I think OSC has a bigger base and also many more add-ons/plugins.

Your recommendations?

Thanks,
Phil

Hello,

It all depends on what you need. Heres my 2 cents:

As for OSC, it is community supported and has just about any mod you can imagine already created and open sourced for you to use. Only downside with this product is that it is outdated, I don't see much developement and skinning it is not fun.

Zen-cart is a hybrid off of OSC. It has a tun of features already built in, this may be handy for you if you don't wanna mod in some features yourself in OSC. However, because their are so many features and they have not taken the time to carefully plan out their admin panel it makes it diffucult in imho to use. They do have a lot of minor updates, haven' t seen a major one in about 1 year now. One more thing is the code again is outdated.

I would recommend looking at cubecart.com as well for another free open source cart (if thats what you need, free :c). Currently they just released version 3.x, which I can say doesn't have as many mods as their version 2.x. But the community is coming out with weekly mods and they are pretty helpful. Right now development is constant and the code is very up to date, having seperate code from templates and vaild xhtml/css aswell. Downside with cubecart I can say is it is very basic without mods.

OSC if you need a lot of different mods.
Zen if you don't want to mods and don't mind a beast :c).
Cubecart for clean code/templates.
