Hi all,

I was just wondering -
I know that to host a nameserver on a .com address you have to add Nameserver records through OpenSRS or whoever you got the domain with.

Can someone post regarding how to setup a .co.uk as a nameserver so that other domains can be setup to use my .co.uk as the nameserver? Can this be done,

Thanks, Matt

You need to set the name servers of the domain to the name servers you want to use e.g.

If I wanted to use kdaws.co.uk for name servers, when I looked up the record using whois it would show

ns1.kdaws.co.uk xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
ns2.kdaws.co.uk xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

I hope you get my gist on that?

Ok, I get that bit, but what I want to do is actually host a nameserver on my domains..E.g

I dont want to map my domain ie http://www.me.co.uk to my hosts DNS servers, ns.host.co.uk & ns2.

What I want to do is actually host nameservers...with a .com I understand you have to add 'nameserver records' to the registry so that you can have dns.me.com...
what I need to know is where do I register that my .co.uk domain is a nameserver, ie where do I say that ns1 points to 123.123.123.124 etc

thanks, I hope you get what i mean

Ahhh, I get what you mean now. The only time you would need to do this is when the .com has been registered by NetSol - even then if you specify the IP addresses of the NS as well as the names you don't need to rgister it.

You need to look for the host registration forms on NetSol's web site.
