What kind of disk space and bandwidth are you looking for?

I'm interested in unlimited bandwidth, space maybe between 100-500MB
and unlimited emails would be great!

Heidi. I hate to break this to you, but if you search for the term 'unlimited' here, you'll realize it isn't all that popular. I think the majority of members would rather stick pins in their eyeballs than debate the topic again, so I'll simply say that if you believe such an offer actually exists, sign up, and come back looking for something real when it doesn't work out.

You won't get unlimited bandwidth, but instead... lets try this another way... what's your budget per month?

Try www.hostsearch.com for an unlimited bandwidth host. I know *****.com offers that...don't know about them very much though.. I would NOT go with an unlimited bandwidth host at all..

Unlimited bandwidth means "not much so let's play the guessing game. How much bandwidth will you be able to use before we cut you off? You have three seconds..." You're better off with someone with a solid number so you know what you're getting. Unlimited e-mail is okay, but there's still a limit to everything that's unlimited. You might hear "unlimited internet access." Well, you're limited to 53 Kbps on a modem. You might hear "unlimited night and weekend minutes." Well, you're limited to however many minutes are in all the nights and weekends in a month.

As for burst.net, very few people here use them for hosting. They usually use them for dedicated servers.

100 MB and 500 MB is a big difference. What are you planning to use the space for? Do you have any visitors right now? That might help estimate how much bandwidth you might need. How much are you willing to spend?

Read their terms of service and you'll find that there are a lot of restrictions that will likely disqualify any site that uses more than a few gigs a month from "unlimited" status -- and the same is true about just about any host that uses that term.

Ok, i sort of get the drift of it now - unlimited is a bad idea! I was sort of wondering about it myself in any case now it's alot more clearer. thanks for the help on that!
So now my question would be: I'm a freelance, and i'm doing research for a company that wants to decide on one hosting company where they can do all their work rather than several as they've been doing until now...so they need something that provides a wide range of options to satisfy their various clients...so they would need something that would offer a big number of email accounts, support for ASP, PHP, Cold Fusion, and Java servlets if possible.
any suggestions?

Sounds like you need reseller accounts instead and a host which offers Windows hosting (quite expensive). Did you try the request forum?

You might want to take a look a tmicrolinq (http://www.microlinq.com) . After trying several hosting providers, I have been very happy with thier service and support. I have a basic shared unix hosting account with them, but I know they offer windows, and developer packages to host multiple accounts on. I hope this helps.

Whatever you do, stay away from "unlimited bandwidth" hosts ;) You'll save yourself a lot of time and money.

***** says unlimited traffic, but if you look at there TOS you'll see that "unlimited" means 3-5GB. That's what they get you with when you call to complain about being charged for overages.

"Oh, yea, you have a gig of space but only 3GB of traffic. Sorry, we really didn't think you'd fill that gig. We'll do a review of your account to make sure that you don't have any pictures (Yes, this violates thier TOS) unlinked programs, and that over 80% of your space is filled with HTML."
