I stumble accross this site here: http://www.pcfl.net/services/dev.htm

they are selling Macromedia's free demo website templates for as much as $350 to people who don't know. They state that they designed the state of the art templates.

Have a look here:
http://www.macromedia.com/software/dreamweaver/download/templates/

Something should be done about this.

Thanks

Wow. Sad but true. I guess Macromedia needs to be informed...

They aren't selling the templates for $350 they are selling their design services for $350, using the templates as the errrr... template of the design.

Is there something in the licensing of Dreamweaver or in the licensing terms of the templates that prohibits designers from using them for commercial applications? If not, then it is fine.

This would be similar to you hiring a designer and them using FrontPage templates to create the final work (though FrontPage templates may carry a different licensing, so the two can't necessarily be compared).

But, I wrote to Macromedia and asked if I could use those templates for commercial gain.

We'll see what they say.

I don't think that is the exact question.

Actually it was more like, "Can I modify, redistribute, etc?"
