Yep, the recent releases do not support boxtrapper any more.

Although it was introduced to avoid spam on the server, I have read many posts on cpanel forums where boxtrapper has infact increased spamming on the server because of their autoresponders.

Hopefully the cpanel team find a better fix for it in their future versions.

Warning regarding the box trapper bugs was displayed in whm many times recently ..
Their forums have detailed explanation though ..

This was covered in the cPanel changelog as well as in great length in the forums. A few weeks ago Boxtrapper was essentially breaking e-mail, causing all incoming mail on the server to be bounced, as well as making all outgoing mail kick up "ghost" bounces. Boxtrapper is no longer found on any of our production servers...... What a nightmare that was.

*shivers thinking about it*

Errrrm, I don't mean this personally Lauren, so please don't take it that way. :) Generally speaking though, anyone serious about running a hosting business or admin'ing their own servers, needs to make rounds through their software companies' communication channels regularly. IMO it's just a matter of being thorough about the job -- and responsible to one's clients.

To say, "I have no reason to visit...." well actually you do have reason, if you're in the business. :) As well, cPanel's changelogs should be a daily read. Then if you have any questions about what is in there, you can go to the forums and search/ask about it. Alternatively you will see things mentioned in the Changelog which have been discussed ad nauseum on the forums.

FWIW, I actually follow the Changelog by simply subscribing to it as a news channel in Horde. It appears on my Horde homepage so every time I login to webmail (which is a minimum of once/day, usually first thing in the morning) I can quick breeze through the new entries on the cPanel Changelog. :)

Boxtrapper was simply moved to the "mail" submenu. It wasn't removed.

Well actually Nick, it was removed. It was removed from Pro in Stable and Release trees in mid-July, during a regular cPanel update. Then if clients still wanted to run it, they had to upgrade to Current or Edge until you guys sorted out your problems with it. (http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?t=41812&highlight=boxtrapper) Only now is it in the Tweak Settings menu for Stable or Release trees... it was completely removed from these trees for some time.

If the client hasn't re-enabled it on her server then it will remain missing from her server.

...here's the post I was looking for. Quoting Nick Koston at the cpanel.net forums:

Boxtrapper WAS part of a !!BETA!! (its clearly marked as BETA in the addon
installer) addon. Just because it hasn't caused a problem until now is no
reason to believe that running !!BETA!! software on a production server will
always be smooth. Boxtrapper has been moved into the main EDGE builds where it
will soon be deemed STABLE for production use, until then if you want to use
boxtrapper you will need to go to an EDGE build.

If you are having the Cwd.so problem and don't want to go to EDGE, but want to
keep pro, just uninstall/reinstall pro. Boxtrapper and the offending problem
has been removed from the latest pro package. Running /scripts/upcp will also have the same effect.

http://forums.cpanel.net/showpost.php?p=197405&postcount=110 ... July 18, 2005.

Also from cPanel Ben, who coded the change himself:

BoxTrapper is completely removed from Pro now. No interface files, no /usr/local/cpanel/etc/exim/cf files, nothing related to BoxTrapper remains. The installer and uninstaller both remove any cruft remaining on the system. I've put out a new Pro version, so running:

/usr/local/cpanel/whostgmr/bin/whostmgr2 --updateaddons

Should update Pro to the latest version and run the install script removing any of these problem files. After it's finished installing and removing files, it will rebuild exim.conf (/scripts/buildeximconf). That should be all that's required at this point.

http://forums.cpanel.net/showpost.php?p=197458&postcount=136 July 18, 2005.

Clients reported that the morning of 7/19/2005 the auto update had indeed removed the problem files.

Not sure what others are using, but we use the CURRENT version with Pro.
Box Trapper in the X Theme is listed under Mail and in Bluelagoon you'll find it when you login "directly" into Web mail. (i.e. http://domain.com/webmail/ and not accessing through Cpanel)

I've always like it, prefer it, and mention to all of our Clients to use it. Todate, except fixing the "Cwd.so" problem it hasn't caused any Server related problems.
