Hi
I just have a question about custom DNS settings.

what I want to do is add a custom name server to my registered domain name
I registered my domain name through somecompany and my hosting is from anothercompany

My hosting gave me to DNS name server as ns1.myhosting.com and ns2.myhosting.com

My question is, can i simply ping my two name servers to find their IP addresses and then assign my custom name server to their IP addresses?

for e.g. (Assumptions)

1. Ping the ns1.myhosting.com => 192.168.1.1
2. In My domain control panel assign ns1.mydomain.com to 192.168.1.1 which is IP address of ns1.myhosting.com !?

Is that right or one IP address can not have two diffrent names?

Thanks for your time.

If I understood you correctly (your spelling errors are plenty, to say the least), this is common practice in the internet. Not ethical though.

First, however, you'll need to REGISTER your custom nameservers with your registrar.

Good luck

Dont know if it gonna work :/

its called vanity DNS and should work just fine.

most registrars allow this, only few wouldn't
