zhsprovider 08-21-2005, 12:37 AM Hello all, thanks for your replies ahead of time!
I'm starting a webshoting business and im thinking of starting off with a ResellerZoome.com reseller package for $25/month, or the $40/month one, just to get things rolling. Now im looking for some internet payment solutions to fairly easily except CC's from my website, and integrate it into my ClientExec account (provided with the reseller package).
Can you please leave your recommendations for professional payment solutions? Please also list the pro's and con's, thanks!
[EDIT] Please nothing too budget consumming, we're starting off new and arn't going to be doing a whole lot of business. Thanks.
Corey Bryant 08-21-2005, 01:05 PM What country are you in? What is your average ticket and your average monthly volume?
zhsprovider 08-21-2005, 05:56 PM Im in the U.S. I haven't started my company yet so I dont have any tickets/customers.
Corey Bryant 08-22-2005, 10:14 AM Then it will be very easy depending on your type of business to get a merchant account or possibly to use a third party system.
If you anticipate over $1,000 a month a in volume, a merchant account is usually a better. You can use your own secure website to handle the checkout process to maintain consistency.
Using a third party processor, you might have to have your customers go over to another website to enter their credit card number, you might have to wait a week or so to get payment and third party processor's name might appear on the consumer's statement. But usually with this service, you have no extra monthly fees like a gateway fee, customer service fee, statement fee, etc. You only pay for what you use. The discount rate might be a bit higher.
Do your due diligence - your choices are very great since you are in the United States
wbpro 08-22-2005, 10:52 AM I agree with Corey Bryant,
If you are planning on been very professional go with a merchant account. Just make sure you get a good discount rate and low monthly.
If you go with Authorize.net (one of the most supporter gateways) and a merchant account with a processor like Global Payment you should get your pricings something like this:
Authorize.net Set Up $99
Authorize.net monthly Price: $7.5
Visa/MasterCard Internet Discount Rate: 2.2%
Merchant Account Monthly Statement Fee: $5
If that is too expnesive for your budget then I suggets you go with paypal. Paypal is used by many hosting companies even medium size corporations.
In the event you are planning on going with a merchant account keep in mind the prices I gave you when you start shopping.
Good Luck...
thetopguy 08-22-2005, 06:53 PM I use http://www.merchantaccounts4less.com and I have been extremely happy with their extra services and support.
Just review everything, know who the acquiring bank is and make sure the company has is stable. Stability is a key. If you read through some of the answers posted by Corey Bryant and CDGCommerce, I think you will be ready to tackle the process of getting a merchant account
mrar_160 08-22-2005, 11:47 PM hi,
May i know what is difference between merchant account and third party system. ??
can we have our system like 2CO or worldpay?
trinitron 08-23-2005, 04:13 AM A Merchant Account is your own account which you dont share with any other merchants. It is the best solution you can get for your business if you have at least a few thousend $$ to process each month.
3PP (3. party processing) is for small and often "hard to place" merchants and for those who want to get started quickly. You dont have that much control of your account then if you go with your own merchant account.
trinitron 08-23-2005, 04:14 AM can we have our system like 2CO or worldpay?
Im not sure what you mean by this ?
Corey Bryant 08-23-2005, 01:05 PM If you mean you want to start a company like 2CO, there are a few threads in here about starting that.
mrar_160 08-23-2005, 07:36 PM Oo.thank trinitron.. Now, i`am clear between merchant account and 3PP..It's mean merchant account is more secure than 3PP right? because we have full control on our account..Am I right?
2CO, paypal, worldpay, authorize.net, paysat or etc is categary in what? merchant account or 3PP?
Yes, i mean how can we start a company like 2CO, paypal or etc..
thank you..
cdgcommerce 08-23-2005, 11:58 PM Yes, a merchant account is always more secure than a 3PP processing arrangement - no doubt about it.
For proof, you can look at the numerous threads here on WHT about various 3PP's who have gone out of business - still having owed hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars to merchants.
With a true merchant account, all of the funds are handled bank-to-bank without any third party ever actually touching the funds... and the member banks are all FDIC-insured as well.
Since you are U.S.-based, you can readily get a merchant account setup very quickly from any one of a number of providers - often with a free setup, no monthly minimums, annual fees or any termination fee costs.
If you shop around you can work out a great deal that will meet your budget as a startup and still be a good solution for you as you grow.
Wherever you go, I always recommend making sure that there is no early termination fee. With any business, there is always risk and the last thing you want is to be hit with a cancellation fee if things don't pan out in the first couple months.
Outside of that, asking about things like chargeback & risk event handling, online reporting capabilities provide, customer & technical support, due diligence on the processor with other merchants and a total understanding of all fees are important.
mrar_160 08-24-2005, 01:04 AM thank cdgcommerce.
I look you have a company provide merchan account?

Keep in mind that Verisign's Payflow service is only an electronic payment gateway, not a merchant account provider (MAP). You will still need a merchant account to accept credit cards.
And now that I remember mrar_160, you are from Malaysia, so you would be hard pressed actually to locate a MAP that will support Verisign's Payflow service since you are not based in the United States. There are a few but you need at least a United States bank account, United States address, and a United States phone number.
mrar_160 08-27-2005, 08:34 PM Corey Bryant,
Do you know what is internet merchant account? It is same like MAP?
For registering internet merchnat account, i must find bank that support verisign right? HSBC bank maybe is the one.Hopefully..
But maybe very hard to me to setup it..
Do you have any idea for me? I only want to accept credit card on my web site..
I have find a lot of payment service provide, but it to hard to find provide that accept replica watches and malaysia country.
Corey Bryant 08-28-2005, 01:25 AM A MAP is merchant account provider. You can accept credit cards this way or thru a third party processor that allows you to accept credit cards using their merchant account.
But now since you mention what you are selling - replica watches, I would say that most MAPs would put you in a high risk category (location / products). Even though that you probably have replica written all over your website, people do not read. Depending on your sales, you will have people emailing / calling you telling you that the Rolex watch they bought at $99.00 is not real and they thought it was! Plus with the spam hitting the market on replica watches, it will even be more difficult unfortunately.
fun2fun 08-28-2005, 04:29 AM From the website info it appears to be a solution where you have to top up an account , then you can pay from that account.
Ie. not a direct quick online payment solution......

Dear fun2fun I see your point, but sometimes security must be 1 priority, sometimes more than direct service.
There are many methods to TOP UP:
Credit Card, PayPal, INTgold, e-gold, Western Union, Money Gram, SWIFT Transfers
With Credit Card available, once user is certified, will be matter of minutes to TOP UP the account and buy, also with e-gold and INTgold.
:)
Have a nice day
