Let me see if I can answer some of these.

A private server is a "chopped" up version of a dedicated server. The main advantage of a dedicated server over a private server is that you get more space and resources with a dedicated server, but you also pay more.

With a private server, you are usually given a certain percent of the resources and you can burst from there. On a dedicated server, you get 100% of the resources 100% of the time.

Anyone care to back me up on that or elaborate?
