This message board and Deb's web site ( http://www.forumhosts.com/hosts.htm ) list a lot of recommended hosts including Tera-byte, Hostrocket, Liquidweb, FutureQuest, Pair, WebServePro, HostingMatters, and OLM / WebAxxs. Most of these hosts seem relaible and have excellent prices. However, all of these host's Acceptable Usage Policies have a lot of content restrictions. It seems that the hosts who offer the best service have the most content restrictions.

Can anyone recommend a host with relaxed content restrictions. I am not asking for a host that does hate or hard core porno web sites. I just want the freedom to be able to post links to adult sites or pictures with softcore nudity.

Define 'freedom' :)

Hello there,

Most professionally run hosting companies maintain restrictions on content which may cause a degradation of service for their other customers. If you wish to host even softcore pornography, you're probably going to want to do a search on somewhere such as http://www.hostsearch.com or http://www.ispcheck.com for a hosting company which allows pornography in general.

http://www.hostcompare.com has a listing of a listing of webhosting company directories, if you can't find anything suitable on hostsearch.com or ispcheck.com.

Best Regards,

Rory

Seven, the main reason hosts don't allow porno is the popularity of such sites :D When a host is selling you a 10 Gig account for $15, they are betting you won't use more than the average 1-2Gig per month. Porno sites tend to use much more, and if they allow this it would send their whole overselling pyramid down crumbling.

If your pictures are tasteful, I would suggest you discuss it with the host, and maybe offer to pay a bit extra if they design a custom plan for you. I would expect you can do it if the host is professional.

http://urgenthost.com takes adult sites. I don't have an adult site, but they've been a great host as far as meeting my needs. Support has been exceptionally prompt.

I appreciate all the replies. It looks like any host that specializes in adult hosting has sky-high prices. I think the most promising of the companies listed within this discussion is http://www.urgenthost.com . They have outstanding prices and appear to have good customer support.

I heard a few unpleasant rumors about this company:

1) I heard that all of their sites with adult constant are put on a special server, so they won't slow everyone else down (but instead the adult sites run slower than everyone else). Can anyone confirm this?

2) A user on this board suggested that Urgent Host is closely connected to the ill-fated nomonthlyfees.com. Can anyone confirm this?

3) I heard that Urgent Host is a one person company. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

We need to distinguish which sites are on what server and adult web sites are very distinct from general web hosting accounts. We do place adult hosting accounts on our different servers that are marked as ADULT. This is so we can monitor the websites.

No, we are not related to nomonthlyfees.com. We do not sponsor nor endorse them.

UrgentHost.com currently have a staff of 5 representatives from accounting, to technical support.

If any other questions, please let us know.

Web Serve Pro has good prices, I have a virtual account with them (granted, not porn). They'd be worth a look. Or check Sizco.net, you can get adult hosting from ten bucks. Or as I mentioned in another thread, http://www.hosts4porn.com is an entire Web site dedicated to finding an adult host. You have many many many more options than you may think, there are literally thousands of companies out there that host adult content.

As many others have said, it can eat a lot of bandwidth and that is not the idea behind shared hosting :)
