Hi guys.. super noob here.. have my site webhosted by company but recently decided to control my own domainname, and hopefully.. get a VPS kind of hosting rather than shared... but some questions on domainnames

1) If I want cheaper domain.. should I go for enom instead of say.. NameCheap? Since enom is a higher tier reseller, getting from them striaght is cheaper.. or its a blatantly wrong thought? (Suggested Namecheap because friend recommended.. just using for comparison - no offence)

2) I have a domain whom i register with a webhost company (they controlling it for me as back then I didn't specifiy I wanted to control, they will relinquish control me soon), whom in turn register via another company (through whois records i see a different contact)

Upon furthur clarification with the webhost company (the direct contact), i realise my domainname is registered to enom...

- my friend recommended me NameCheap, and after looking through WHT, I am pretty impress with what I see about NameCheap.. what you guys reckon?

- related to Q1, if NameCheap gets it from enom, won't it be economically more sensible and cheaper to get from enom? Saying that, I love NameCheap control panel. Plain, simple and it works! Great job!

- in my current situation, how do I transfer my existing domain to namecheap? Will I need to pay? If so, should I wait till it expire before I switch to NameCheap? Or will the current company hold rights to it...?

Hear from you guys soon!

transfer fee is the renewal fee, at all registrars/resellers

if you like namecheap go with them then.

It is better that you go with NameCheap, as Enom list higher prices on their website and doesn't compete with their resellers.

If you need to transfer your domain do it now and don't wait for expiration because if the domain get expired you will end up renewing it at the same place.
