I recently signed up for google adsense at (dsfilms.com) and i have a question. on my summary, it says:

4 page impressions and 0 clicks. Will page impressions earn me money or do i have to have clicks? whats the difference between impressions and clicks? why does it still say 0.00$ earned if there are 4 impressions?

Thanks! :)

u have to have clicks doesnt matter if u have million impressions

impressions is how many times ur ad is shown...click are clicks

i have asked people to test the ads by clicking them and no click counts are shown. is this because these things take time to process (ps i am not trying to cheat the system, i just want to make sure it works).

thanks!

got it figured out... they update the stats at random (sometimes hourly) :)

Yeah, well if it appears on your site and shows impressions it works. Don't click on the darn ads or tell others to click on them. You're "making sure" just cost some advertiser $$.

07mackenzie,

DevilDog rightly said, don’t click and tell others to click on it, google might disable your account understanding it a fraud click. You should read thoroughly the T.O.S of google adsense.

Hey Pal, don’t every “test drive” your adds… its very risky and if G bans u… u will have no one to explain…. And don’t ask others to do this too…. Cause… on day some one can get mad at you and give u some extra clicks and the fate of you extra $$$$ is sealed… once you have your adsence account banned… you will have almost 95% no chance to get is back again for that site….. so please be careful with this stuff…..

Once you start making money… you can always get tempted to make some extra clicks from your side or asking some one…. But believe me… this is once of the biggest mistake…. Google has big recourse to match the patters of clicking…. And they may catch u at unexpected times….. many people get away with it… but still many get caught and all those $$$$ will be just a few extra deleted bytes on G ad servers….. and ur account is sealed and all ur unpaid amount cancelled!

You can read a lots about adsense webmasters :bawling: at http://www.webmasterworld.com/ and how their accounts got banned….

So if this is you serious website project and you really want to make some $$$, at lest to cover up hosting charges, then…. Never click your self…. Don’t ask others to do so, and ALSO SEE HOW OTHERS (I mean unknown visitors) ARE CLICKING ON YOUR ADDS! If anything is unusual, contact adsense team before they ban you

Glad you care about us advertisers money:P

Yes Google updates about every 4 hours I believe.
And yes it works. I get about $.39 for 7 clicks so don't worry much.

Hey everyone,

I didnt realize how serious the TOS were so i emailed google and asked them to wipe our current cash that we've made so I can start over (with no asking people to test). I told them my story and they said it was okay but to read the TOS closely.

I have another adsense question. If you go to my page at http://dsfilms.com you'll see that no matter how many times you refresh, the ads almost never switch (in my case they wont stop with these animation and 3D ads?) so two questions, #1 is it possible to make the ads rotate more often so that people won't see the same ad every time they go to the site and #2, my site has nothing to do with graphics and animation. Do the ads become more targeted on their own or is there something I should do manually?

Thanks!

The animated ads rotate faster than the regular text ads but I couldn't give a exact amount of sec/minutes
About the targeting google uses spiders for that. THey spider your site and use the most relevant links from adwords on your site. For instance the more keywords you have for "web design" the more web design related ads will come up.

The adds show on your site are based on the data collected by google bot after indexing your site/page…

google adsense use this data to decide which add to show on a particular page… so the base of all this is the content of your site…. :)

Google wants relevant and clicks from interested visitors…. And not just some random clicks…. So if the page does not have sufficient keywords… then google may show some adds of public service… (no $ for such adds…) ;)
;)

I have also heard some webmasters say that if you place good keyword just below the adsense box, then you can get adds based on those keywords…. Well… u got to try it to know if its true or not ;)

I'll be honiest, don't use rubbish affiliates, their swoop in and not pay you later on. Believe me on this one.

Just don't go mental with affiliate links all over your website, like mp3search.com lmao, I can't even find the results words. Oh their it is, right down the bottom...

*Get a free ipod? woooo what a nice scam* :)

Just to add to this good advice:

1. If you're not seeing the kind of ads you might expect for your page (i.e. don't seem to match your content, then that is a good indicator that your page is not written properly to "bring out" what you think your page is about. Use the key words related to your content on each page more frequently.

2. Adsense does allow you to disallow certain advertisers. If you see ads for things you do not like then you can ban those particular advertisers from being served to your site.

I wouldn't mind if an occasional ad was irrelevent but if JUST those SAME ads show every refresh, it gets kind of pointless. I mean, what if a user clicks and ad and the ads NEVER change? I think the ads should be rotating at least a few more times... any suggestions?

Hi

I am sorry to repeat the same...
I guess if anything is wrong with the way the advertisements are shown, the first place to check is the content of your site, It will be a good idea to experiment with the keywords, but again, any changes will take some time… (First the bot has to re-index your site)

And I guess (I am not sure here) u are having problems with the adds, cause u are trying to display it in a forum… so got to pump in good relevant keywords into the forum template…..

Try experimenting and our ofcourse wait for the results…

Hey, thanks for the responses.

What do you mean put in the keywords? Like where do they go? I dont want to have ads and then right under it, keywords. that would look rediculous!

maxpaul

No, keyword in the sense, not just pain targeted words under the add… this will look ridiculous! :o

Just think of a good description for the site including the targeted keywords… this will look fine for human visitors and the bots will take ‘em….. ;)

And in the html code of the forum template, add the targeted keywords <meta name="keywords" content=" add the targeted keywords”> :)

And also a good description <meta name="description" content=" a good description ”> :)

And if it does not help try adding some keywords into H1 tags… and hide it using css… please note! this is not a approved way… and never over do it here, but still many webmasters got good results when done in limits….

Let’s see what others have to comment on this….
