Hey Everyone,

I don't know a thing about website design (I am the editor and co-owner of the site), so I thought I'd talk to folks who know what is going on.

Right now, my site (www.realworldtech.com) is using Cold Fusion. I would like to move my site over to a Linux+Apache+MySQL+PHP solution instead of CF, because of scalability and cost concerns.

We are pretty much happy with our site, so we don't need a redesign. We just need to port our site. Does anyone have recommendations for companies that specialize in this sort of stuff?

I was looking at indian contractors, because they are super cheap, but I am not sure if that is the best idea. So I guess I was hoping for the following advice:

0. Who does website porting from Cold Fusion to PHP?
1. Would you recommend US shops over Indian shops?
2. Do you have any groups you would recommend? Why?

There is certainly nothing wrong with using indian shops in principle. The company I work for as a day job has a large amount of IT resources out there due to the high skill levels and low cost.

The only issue is that if something goes wrong then it is much more difficult to enforce a contract or recover monies due to the international aspect.

Basic common sense approach of checking the company out, not compromising your sites security etc should reduce the risks of anything going wrong.
