We need a site redesign.

Please go to this thread for information:

http://www.sitepointforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55438

I've been requested to post the info here as well so here it is:

$400 offered for site redesign
We would like a web site redesign for Blackfoot Hosting Ltd - www.blackfoot.co.uk - not just a template but for a designer to redesign the whole site. This will also involve customising the domain search and integrating with Modernbill so maybe only enter if you are familiar with Modernbill (I hope that doesn't narrow it down too much). Requirements for the new site are:

No frames!
New colour scheme - blue/grey maybe a dash of red or yellow or green to add some colour
New logo - must include a black foot
New graphics, backgrounds etc
Main page to include domain search box, an 'account login' username and password boxes, details of the 4 hosting accounts etc
Fast loading, highly functional

Time scale 2 weeks for completion of whole site. So we need to choose a design within maybe 2 to 4 days.

Designs that I particularly like from recent competitions (don't know if they have been sold yet?)

http://www.overskilled.com/portfolio/tanji.com
http://www.reproglobal.com/host/layout.jpg

These are just what I like to give you an idea - chosen design may look quite different

Entries welcome from those who have entered recent competitions - just adapt the entry to suit Blackfoot Hosting.

$100 payable via paypal to the chosen designer plus $300 on completion of whole web site.

We reserve the right not to choose a design if we feel nothing comes in that is suitable.

Please don't enter unless you want to do the whole web site and will be able to complete it in approximately 2 weeks.

Thank you in advance to anyone who spends time working on this.

Isnt the Modernbill software just php code thrown into a template? Shouldn't narrow it too much if that is the case.

Modernbill already has signup scripts - just need to link to them and customise them. There is a header and foot template provided for the signup process that I would like a designer to provide the html for. Here is a demo of the signup process:

http://www.modernbill.com/demo/signup/

I would like the whole thing ready to roll in 2 weeks and not be left with things that need finishing off. This is why I said that the integration of Modernbill must also be included.

All the content is already provided in the existing site - just needs a big face lift and reshuffle:)

Thanks

Shirley

ooowwww, blackfoot really needs a total make-over. last time i heard, http://www.reproglobal.com/host/layout.jpg was at the 175 bucks mark, maybe u can try out bidding it if the auction is still on.

That "gaurantee" is an eye sore :D

I'd love to enter but I don't know what Modernbill is :(

I'm aware that "guarantee" is spelled wrong on http://www.reproglobal.com/host/template.jpg but I'm just too lazy to fix it :D

Its the backend accounts with sign up scripts - created especially for web hosts.

http://www.modernbill.com

Thank you to all those who have offered their services so far. We are going to have a heck of a job deciding who to go with:)

If anyone is familiar with Modernbill they may have an advantage.

mrlarter:
Your Portfolio is excellent - some superb graphics!

Thanks

Shirley, did you receive my PM?

Shirley
04-05-2002, 07:19 PM
Yes I did and I have replied.

Anyone else who wishes to submit an interest in taking on this project please do so.

Things that may swing it your way:
A quick mock up page to show what you can do for Blackfoot
Familiarity with Modernbill
Confirmation that you can meet the budget of $400 and time scale of 2 weeks.

I hope to make a decision some time tomorrow.

Thanks

Shirley

I find if everyone does that to the newbies, they stop doing it, otherwise all we would ever hear was "i emailed you, i private messaged you, did you read the reply i put to your post (which im replying in now asking if you read the previous one)??"

Sarcasm usually gets 'em in the first hit :)

Great, another tender!.. You are mistaken if you think that you will get a decent (at most) work done. Because only beginners participate in so-called 'open competition'. What makes you think that a professional designer/developer would ever fall for that? An open and _fair_ competition is for you to study each participant portfolio and choose the professional designer/developer with the skill set needed for the project. Do not exploit hundreds of people, as they will waste their time and other resources in vain. Besides, do you really think that a person would be willing to do his best for a 'potential' project with no advance payment, which is actually the normal procedure in the business world? ..And some great potential: hundreds of participants and only one chosen. Even worse - maybe this thread is just a practical joke for you to make fun of..?

The point is: tenders are useless, un-ethical; thus work in advance is considered unacceptable by professionals. Do you first ask for a bite of McDonald's hamburger and only then pay for it? I am pretty sure that you do not offer and equivalent of 3 months free hosting just for your potential client to test your services out..

That is why there are so few companies in the web hosting industry as great looking as hostrocket.com and others!

By this thread we hope to get designers and developers solidarity. Let's stand up and defend our professional interests!

P.S. The promotion of a forum on another forum is unethical and even forbidden.
P.P.S. The designer choice doesn't necessarily mean that he will be able to do a good development work as well.

While I fully understand and side with you devdes, I think this is a case of a person coming from a different forum that has a different set of 'standards'.

Head over to that other forum (no promoting from me!:D ) and see how they do things over there. You will find about 500 'Contests' I think they call them, and this is how they all are. A bunch of designers (many of the same people I see on here actually) put up some excellent templates and never get picked. I think thisis terrble as well, all those people wasting so much time and never getting selected....perhaps this is the reason for the sudden influx of templates for sale on here?

EXACTLY CORRECT

I enter in those contests and if my template doesn't get picked for the grand prize I post it over here, as so many others do.

I knew it! Another tender-thread is on... :(
I forestalled you...

Designers/developers, please do fight the tenders vogue! The WHT was one of few tender free forum, let's keep it this way. Do not participate!

Just to let everyone know - we have chosen a designer. It was the first person to offer their services - by email. We chose them because they have a very impressive portfolio.

We have had many designers expressing an interest in doing this and we really appreciate all the offers.

Many thanks again.
