View Full Version : If you could start any internet company....
viGeek 04-05-2002, 01:53 PM If you could start any internet company What would it be?
Assuming that you had about $5,000-$20,000
If you already own a web hosting company, what else would you start?
puggy106 04-05-2002, 02:08 PM Thats a big gap, you could do alot more with 20 than 5. Anyway I would probably start a server company.

kunal 04-05-2002, 02:55 PM vigor, it would all depend on what you were interested in... you could start a website that teaches you how to cook online... and it could make you a lot of money :)

LOL, i meant teaching some one how to cook, online..
Hm, I would start a business that converts people's weblogs/journals to hardcopy. Maybe custom handwriting fonts, fancy paper, and nice leather covers. I don't know how much it would cost to start up, unfortunately. Probably a pretty penny. And I would probably need a good lawyer so I don't get sued for being privy to other people's "secrets."
bitserve 04-06-2002, 12:52 AM I'm on a development project for an online dating organization. It seems pretty interesting. I would probably go with that. I didn't sign a non-compete or anything. :)
creid 04-06-2002, 01:10 AM Something to do with Wireless Devices.. those are gunna be big(if they arn't already are...)

you could start a website that teaches you how to cook WOW! I could use that! One thing I failed to do was learn how to cook :bawling: Though I have an amazing ability to shout out the delivery numbers of any place that delivers meals in central Florida :D
If not hosting I would probably start an online organization for "Recovering Hosts". It's focus would be helping them deal with nightmares, shakes, and other issues that undoubtedly haunt those that are no longer in the business ;) It would include special groups for those that may not have owned the business but did offer technical support for over 6 months. They certainly would have more severe cases of this. hmmm what domain would I use?
PTHS.org I guess (Post-Traumatic Host Syndrome) -- Darn it's taken! So much for that idea :stickout
nocturnix123 04-08-2002, 04:07 AM boy if i had 20,000 i could start some killer companies...right now I have 2 im working on, but my budget for advertising is somewhere in the range of 0$ give or take a couple dollars. Right now all my funds are spent on beer...guess I'll have to wait until im out of college to start seriously promoting my sites. Too bad I still have 3 years to go!
[shameless plug]
if you will notice my signature dont be affraid to check out my sites and help me out by registering and posting if you find them interesting! (waits for chicken to censor)

phptalk 04-08-2002, 06:57 PM Whatever your choice, do not think that advertisement revenue will cover your all expenses...
Wavmeister 04-09-2002, 01:29 AM One time I was going to cook mac and cheese. So I put a pan of water on the stove, set the stove on high, and ran upstairs to check an email I heard come in. Well, I forgot about the stove. ABout 2 hours later, I remembered. I ran downstairs, smoke everywhere. No fire, but the bottom of the pane had a hole burned in it, and the metal from it was welded to that electric thing that gets hot, dont know the name of it. Pretty bad when you cant cook mac and cheese without almost burning the house down
Chicken 04-09-2002, 02:09 AM ... OT but ...
My grandmother (god bless her soul) was over at the parent's house where we just got a new convection oven/microwave. She hadn't used one before and I think she didn't quite understand that it was primarily a microwave (the convection part was a special setting). Well, she wanted to cook up some grilled cheese sandwiches for the grand kids (that's us), and it turns out that 10 minutes on high is *more than enough* time to make the cheese a bit melty between two pieces of bread.
Rewdog 04-09-2002, 02:13 AM Quite a few years ago...
My friends grandmother came to visit. My friend had a hamster, and he was shivering as many hamsters do. Grandma decided he was cold, so she put him in the oven to warm him up for a few minutes. Grandma forgot about the hamster.... for 2 hours. Very true story, I saw it with my own eyes :bawling: . Hamster was fried crispy, and my friend didn't talk to her grandmother for about a year.
Holy cow we got off topic, or was it just me :D!
I saw it with my own eyes Well that explains why Rewdog is emotionally challenged! It would have taken a psych over a year at $150 per hour to figure that out. Good'ol WHT strikes again at no charge !!
I'm glad you were able to share that with us Rew... the rest of your life is going to be far more enjoyable!
NOTE: The above is a happy post not one meant to discount the trauma of being cooked!
