wow, thats a VERY big move, alldomains runs tons and tons of domains and big players such as google.com no?

hmm, it seems alldomains had sister company called MarkMonitor.com and moved their valuable clients before selling or what?

I do not think markmonitor was part of the deal. I think alldomains was the only part

It looks like AllDomains and MarkMonitor were two separate companies (each accredited as a registrar) who merged (http://www.markmonitor.com/newsandevents/2003_10_21.shtml) a couple years ago. Apparently, they're selling the AllDomains part of the company now to Dotster.

i see, IIRC google.com and other VIP clients were hosted at alldomains.com including one domain like 'big.com'

but it seems all those domains are with markmoniter now

We were moving all of our domains to Dotster because Alldomain's service was so terrible. Since the change, Dotster's become every bit as bad. Neither company answers their support phones, and at least Alldomains is ignoring emails as well.

I'm trying hard to move all my domain registrations elsewhere, but all my requests are failing, and neither Alldomains nor Dotster is answering emails or phone calls. I'm EXTREMELY frustrated. If anyone has a suggestion on how to reach them, please send it! I'm trying faxes now, but am not optimistic.

Im suprised Dotster isnt answering their phone calls during business hours. We have been with them several years and always had prompt support, but its been a while since I have had to contact their support dept.

Part of them recouping their cost of the purchase is trying to leverage their existing infrastructure(support, systems etc.). They might be spreading themselves too thin.

I think they're having a lot of problems with their transition. I got a form email today saying that they had problems, didn't answer emails for a while, etc., but are now catching up. But this experience has been too bad for me to keep using them; our site was unreachable two whole days due to their DNS problems, and changes (including renewals) I'd requested were held up for 3 weeks while they lost emails and didn't answer phones. I do expect they'll get better, but they've lost me for good.

I have never been a fan of dotsters interface, althout simple it is bad for bulk management
